View Full Version : How do you keep warm cosleeping?!

Wondering how others have their sheet/blanket/clothing while cosleeping? We have a 6wk old who shares our bed for nights. We love it, but my top half is often cold and it's a bit distracting!

Currently we have her on the edge, me in the middle and DH on the other side of me. I have the (flannel) sheet tucked in at her chest level, and so it comes up on the diagonal up to me. I've got her head level with my breasts for feeding, and my arm goes across above her head and down her side. Nice on the warm nights, but when it's cooler, that's an arm, a shoulder and a big bit of chest hanging out in the cold night air!

We have a light blanket, plus a doona on top of the sheet. The blanket is ok and I can pull that up nearly as high as the sheet (though I keep it a bit lower on bub), but the doona I keep below DD's legs for safety, which means it covers half of me.

Complicated?! Basically in order to keep DD clear of too many layers and potential smothering risks, I'm cold. :)

Suggestions? Thank you!

p.s. I put a light long-sleeve shirt on DD. I prefer to sleep naked. Perhaps my best option is to wear a warm top?

thanks.

I used to wear a warm top (like a flannel long sleeve) with buttons so I could keep that open for feeding, or I used to put DD on top of the doona that came up to my arms...

A warm top will do the trick! I had a long sleeved v neck with buttons down the front for easy access. I'm afraid it's not the same as snuggling under a blanket but you will get used to it!!

I wear a skivvy to keep me warm! I've had the same issue too with my two year old when I am trying to settle her back to sleep.
