Hi there

Just wanting to know if anyone has experienced this or if its something i should get checked out at the Dr.

I know after giving birth etc there is pain associated with sex etc. I have read all the threads and am experiencing the same pain/uncomfortableness.

What i am concerned about though is that I have now had a normal period for the last two months after starting back on the pill. Last month being my first period, I tried a tampon thinking that i had had sex so surely a tampon would be fine.
It felt like it was not positioned properly whilst it was in there and then when I pulled it out it almost brought tears to my eyes as it hurt soo much.

I only used one once last month and thought I would try again next time.
This time I am persevering with using them but I am experiencing the same agony when it comes time for them to be disgarded.

I gave birth normally but had to have an episiotomy and stitches of course but the pain seems to be inside vagina/cervix rather than at the site of the stitches.

Anyone got any ideas or experienced anything similar ?

Ta muchly

I'm sorry you're going through this. Episiotomies make me really mad. Many women have major problems with them for years and even have to have reconstructive surgery. They're just appalling, unnecessary and bad medicine :(

I recommend that you go and see a health practitioner who is sympathetic and won't fob you off with any nonsense about time healing all or "that's just how birth is". You might need to check them out on the phone first.

A friend of mine is still healing from one over 2 years ago. She's birthing her next baby at home to avoid another one. Good luck!

Hi there,

Sorry I can't be much help other than to say I am experiencing the same problem after giving birth naturally on the 5th May. Nearly 5 months on I actually can't seem to have sex as even attempting it hurts SOOO much!

I had no epesiotomy but had second degree tears around the outside of the labia. I have been examined under anasthetic but the Dr told me it all looked a-ok.

THEN WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH ME?????????????????????????????

This is making me really really sad :( :( :(

and also really scared about Baby No. 2. if this is how my body reacts to birth then it is even making me question whether I can contemplate it again. This is ridiculous! I had a really great labour, completely drug-free, baby was born in the sack in the bath - could not have been more gentle I just don't get it!

Anyway, sorry to hear you are experiencing similar troubles.

Mel

Sorry to hear that, Mel. I'd go and see an independent MW if I were you because she won't fob you off but would have many ideas on how to investigate what's going on with you. That much pain is not ok and no one should have to live with it. I hope you can find a gentle practitioner who supports you in this *hugs*

Hi there

I've had two babies naturally ... tore substantially with one and nasty graze with the other.

My youngest is now sixteen months and I am only now getting comfortable with tampons again (and sex for that matter). So it took 10 cycles for things to get back to normal for me.

Can you use pads  for a few more cycles?

I tore with my first bub and I'm surprised I didn't with my second, as his head was much bigger.
I've only had 3 regular periods now and only used tampons for the last one, but then only when I went out. I found it quite painful for awhile after my first son, so I guess I'm just a bit paranoid about it this time around.

When I got period back I tried the old tampon (as we had resumed sex with little probs ;) ) and OMG there was no way that foreign object was going to stay in there- agony. I had an episiotimy and bad grazing.

Went back to pads for a couple of cycles then as I cant stand them tried tampons again and rest assured it gets better. I did use a little vaseline at times to assist them getting up there (and I guess back out) at first but now 4 months on I'm back to normal. Thank god!

Good luck and hope all heals well
