View Full Version : Bath Wash and Lotions - what brand do you use?
Just wondering what bath wash and lotion brands do bubhubbers use to wash their little ones?
I've always used Johnson&Johnson just because that's what they used in the hospital. Have tried some others like Huggies, Curash, Aromababy but they don't seem to smell as nice.
Gaia Baby (http://gaiaskinnaturals.com.au) here, I love it.
It might be a bit more expensive, but a little goes a long way.
You can get a pack with a bit of everything in it.
We use the bath wash, shampoo and soothing lotion, must get the moisturiser, they didn't have it at the pharmacy I went to.

I like Gaia too. Although having said that, I've only used the few little sample packs I got free with an order from ....... Finnstarz, I think?
So 3 baths he's had with that in it. Every other bath has just been plain water.
And FYI, the reason hospital's use J&J is because they get it free/very cheap from the J&J company. Hospital's are so under-funded, they simply can't afford to go with what is best, only with what is the cheapest to them. J&J count on people thinking "well the hospital uses it, therefore it must be best, so I will buy it and use it" it's a brilliant marketing ploy. But look on the ingredients  I ain't putting that **** on my baby's skin.
We use Alpha Keri wash here. We all use it. We all have a bit of eczema so the wash just keeps it at bay. It is a bit expensive but well worth it.

good point!!
I suppose my other reason is that it is available at the supermarket so easy to buy - but if I wanted to use aromababy or gaia I'd have to buy it from the chemist - and then there is the cost factor.

I stopped all J&J products with DD#2 when she came up in eczema.
For DS, I have stuck to either Baby Organics bath wash, a pure bland olive oil soap I buy direct from Gooramadda Olives, or when is eczema has been very bad (not often, thank goodness), I make a stong pot of chamomile and calendula tea, and add that to the tub instead of baby wash solution.
Every other bath has just been plain water.
.
The hospital we went to used, and pretty much recommeded just water and sorbolene for moisturiser (having said that they actually had J&J sorb there).
I use Gaia baby stuff. In fact I just use the shampoo in a bath. We did that as my CHN told me not to put anything on his skin that I wouldn't eat myself. So to read the ingrediants.
Also the johnson's stuff was causing dry patches of skin on his scalp. The gaia stuff cleared that up in one wash!
i was using j&j but it dried out ds skin something shocking even the health nurse told me not to use it becos of that reason. i just bath him in plain water with a little bit of olive oil in it.
I use Natural Instinct which I bought from the chemist, it is 100% pure oils and organic herbs.
It smells so good, lavender and chamomile.
paid $11.95 for 500mls but at the time it was but one get one free.
You only need a small amount.
It has no sodium lauryl sulphates (did you know this is what they use in industrial strength degreaser ?)
So far this is the best stuff i have found.

we got told this in our antenatal classes....its scary when you look at the ingredients..when I see Sodium Laureth Sulphate I cringe.....we are going to use the Gaia range...it is a bit more expensive but that does not bother me....I would rather pay a bit more than use chemicals on bubs skin.....

We use J&J here but we also use Curash powder. It doesn't smell very nice like some powders but it does the job of soaking up the water in the skin folds and underneath all 3 of ducky's chins :o Sometimes she makes it very hard to be able to dry her neck so i do what i can then use the curash powder.

I bought some of this when the Baby Organics was out of stock, and DS had a huge reaction to it. He went red and itchy from head to toe, and I found that it dried my hands out when I washed him in it, too. I would never buy it again.
I brought GAIA. Being my third child I dont see the point in spending heaps of money buying 10 different sorts of creams and things so I brought body and bath wash so I would use that as a little bit of bubble bath and shampoo, I also grabbed a moisturiser and a corn flour powder. It cost me about $38 for the 3 but you only need a tiny tiny amount so in the long run I think its cheaper to buy these products. Sort of similar to buying in bulk really. The upfront cost is more but you dont have to buy as often... :D
we use Amolin bath wash thats the only brand that doesnt give ds a rash and it is like one of the cheapest....
we love Curash powder too

I use Avent products. It smells good and my son has never had any skin issues (we have very sensitive skin in the family and prone to eczema). Occasonally, I also use the Innoxa line when Avent is not in stock in my local chemist. :)

We use J & J moisturising wash or sorbolene because they are easily accessible as well as cheaper than others.
We have tried a few of the expensive natural brands but they actually gave DS a rash funnily enough & one actually added to his nappy rash making it flare up.
Im allergic to a few soaps so i will obviously have to keep an eye Boof for this reason.

Hi
We use nurtimetics bub range. It smells great.
When that runs out we go for the jonhsons and Johnsons bed time bath.
RE: Natural Instincts body wash

aardvark-
What a pity you DS had this reaction.I have had eczema all my life (just on my hands now) and 2 of my girls also. After a week of using the body wash and shampoo our eczema was gone. This is the only thing that has helped for me.
At least your have found something your happy with.
I love the Amolin wash - but have several types.......luckily neither of my girls have sensitive skin or problems - so we have some J & J, some Huggies, some special ones given to us by friends for gifts....some bodyshop......oh - there's a whole heap at the end of the bath atm :o I'm a bit of a "wash and lotion" junkie I think!!! I'm TRYING To cut down atm......think the Amolin is my favorite and the lotion is lovely too!

I'm with you sugar'n'spice. I buy whatever is cheaper except for J&J as it gives my bubs a rash. I really like the huggies sensitive skin wash but it's expensive. I find curash is great.
I use Moogoo Milk Wash on DS and it is fantastic. I recommend it to anyone who has sensitive skin.

I also use their soap, cleanser, shampoo and conditioner. It is more expensive then the supermarkets but goes a long way. Best of all, my skin and scalp love the stuff. No reactions at all. So that's what we use on DS and will use on the next baby also.

Yep I'm with you on that one, I even use all of thier body, hair and face products for myself..I used to use aromababy, but it just got too exy and finding stockists or then stockists not having stock just became way too painful...but i won't be converted from aromababy barrier balm, it is just the best thing invented...except for gloria jeans vanilla chillers...but that's whole different category!!!:smiliedance:

I use Dermaveen bath oil, QV bath oil (available in huge pump packs) on both my kids. Fantastic stuff. Cleans but renews moisture. If it's not close by or I can't be bothered, well, plain ol' water does the trick!

The dude is 15 months old and I still only use water... there are lots of chemicals in most cleansers, and I can't bring myself to out them on his skin... I don't use soap myself either, lol, I don't smell though, ask Veve!!!!

I just use water for Ry as well, everything else I have tried really dries out the skin on his cheeks.
The poll is closed so I can't vote, but I use Gaia baby products on my DD!
