Hey guys!

I'm actually in the west subs of Melb & i was wondering if somebody knew of a good allergist i could ask my GP to refer me to for my DD2's peanut allergy. He has sent a referal off to the RCH (back in aug) & i called them 2 days ago & apparently she isn't even on the waiting list as yet & i was told there would probably be a 12 to 15 mth wait.

I don't want to wait this long, for something that is a major health issue. I think i'd rather pay the money to get in to see somebody ASAP. After all, there is no price on ur childrens health, right!

Also, could somebody give me an approx of how much the allergist's charge?

Many thanks, Melissa.

I'm in sydney so can't help with doctors names but my allergist charges 300 dollars for the first visit and 200 dollars for the succeeding ones. Unfortunately, you'll have to see the allergist a few times.

If you ever go to Canberra you can see one within a couple of months (and the one we are seeing soon is head of Immunology at ANU and his research speciality is anaphylaxis)... We are equidistant between Canberra and Melbourne (4.5 hours drive each way), but choose to go to Canberra as you can see someone before your kids leave home  and you don't sacrifice on quality.

Hi Melissa,
How did you get on with the app for Dr Humphries? I saw hime with my youngest DS when he was about 12 months (were living in Hastings then), and my peads told me he was the best in his field then. Nice guy too, very much trusted mum's instincts as I recall. Can't remember what the out of pocket costs were, though as I recall it wasn't cheap. Good luck with it all.:fingerscrossed:
