My hubby is on holidays at the moment and suggested that we spend a nice day out with ds. I'm wondering what sort of things have been popular with other families? (He is 8.5 months)

We were thinking of going to Williamstown to see the boats and walk along the jetty.

(we took him to play at the local park the other day and he was a bit overwhelmed, he's not very adventurous!! )

Chloe was fascinated with fish and animals early on. Loved our dogs (her first crawl was to the dogs, not to me  ). We tried a zoo at around 6 months and she mostly slept through it. You could try a petting zoo or farm, or aquarium. Bubs under 2 usually get in free.

I found the best at that age was to go to the pools....
Bubs usually love it and dads are great at bringing them into the Big pools and really having fun with them :)

You can also incorperate a picnic into this, most pools have grassed areas that you can eat at.

Have fun :)

We went to the dandenongs recently with bub and had a great day. We went up to the look out first and bub LOVED it - it was very windy and he just loves the wind. They have a decent coffee shop ( though a bit pricey) there now and a little garden area with bridges and a bit of water. Then we went for the mandatory devonshire tea in Sassafrass and browsed in the shops there (there is a fantastic toy shop there too - gorgeous wooden toys and puppets). I think it may have been the clean air (or something?!) as DS was an absolute angel the entire day - he really seemed to enjoy himself! We want to head to the zoo soon, I think he is old enough to get something out of it now - even if it's just being outside. Also, I have been told they love to watch fish - so maybe the aquarium.

The aquarium in Melbourne is cool. You can go without actuallt having to pay. They have a cafe with a huge fish tank. You can go into and have something to eat before you actually enter the main aquarium. They even have feeding time in the tank. So you get to see all the fish (well not the sharks), but an impressive array of fish and have a nice lunch without having to spend a fortune. :)

Can you go to a museum? I myself am yet to try it with Libby, but up here in Brisvegas our museum has the typical stuffed animals, big dinosaur bones, and other exhibits that I am pretty sure she'd like (10 months old). Not to mention lots of other little babies and toddlers there that she loves to watch. And, apart from the cost of parking, it's free! Yipppeeee!!
Come to think of it, I've got myself all excited writing this post and am definitely going to bundle her and DH off to see it this weekend!

Hmmm....you can answer that for us when you return....O loves Monkey World on cable TV...and he likes dogs too...but absolutely FREAKS if he sees a cow, real or on Baby Einstein....??!!!
I'm near a hamster here and he is so indifferent to it..same with mice....no reaction.
