DD is 4.5 months old. I have put her down to sleep on her side since she was about 2 months old, then once she settles into a deeper sleep I've always pushed her onto her back. From about 3 months old, she rolled from her back to her side to sleep, no matter how many times I pushed her back onto her back.

About two weeks ago DD learnt to roll from her back onto her front (does it ALL day long now) and can only occasionally roll front to back.

My issue is that for about the last week, when I check on her for her day naps, she's happily sleeping on her tummy. The last two mornings, I've also woken up to her sleeping on her tummy.
I flip her onto her back everytime I find her on her tummy, and she straight away rolls to her side

Im super paranoid about SIDS. Im frightened that one morning I'll wake up, roll over to look in DDs cot and discover her on her tummy and not breathing. I don't mind if she sleeps on her side, but sleeping on her tummy is freaking me out!

Not sure what to do...

My DD2 has been doing this from the time she learnt to roll when she was just under 4 months old.

Once they're on the move, I don't think there is any way that you can stop them from rolling over onto their tummy. Just make sure there are no loose blankets that your baby get get trapped under and it should be fine.

My DS (12 months now) was and still is a side sleeper. Occasionally he rolls onto his tummy. Once they can roll they can get themselves around. Does she have some head control? Is she relatively unrestricted so that she can move if she needs to(i.e. I'm assuming that you don't swaddle her, put too many blankets on her)? I know how you feel. I used to be paranoid as well and would check on him every hour until I realised he was fine.:gl:

I was under the under the impression that once they can roll themselves its less of a problem, its mainly that when they are young you shouldnt place them on their belly. My little boy has started rolling during his daytime sleeps but at night I find that because he is tucked in he tends not to. I did find at Big W a thing that helped stop them rolling as I was concerned too it has a wedge either side. Cant remember what its called, sorry!
