Where do I buy them?
I wouldn't mind trying them.

What brand are they? Or can I buy them at a shop anywhere?

I love Baby Beehinds, they have their own website. BBH's are quite expensive though.
I also love My Little Ripple, also have their own website, and they are much cheaper ($50 for 10).

I have a lot of different brands but Bumboos are my fave! I brought them off their website. They come with 4 inserts.. i use 2 at a time and DS wears them at night and doesn't leak. I also love Bum cheeks nappies.. super absorbent
I have lots of brands including more expensive ones like BabyBeeHinds and Green Kids, but my fave are my cheapies from China, I think they're DreamBaby or something similar. They have mircrofibre inserts. I paid $80 for 20, and ended up buying 20 extra bamboo inserts. I use two inserts and find them great. Sadly I am yet to find a cloth nappy that lasts overnight though!
Oh no there's so many. Do they all come with inserts?
How do you wash cloth nappies? Hot water? Or does it not matter just chuck in machine then dryer?

They usually come with inserts. Some of the cheapies on ebay don't
They are so easy to wash. You just chuck them in a dry nappy bucket (no soaking)
I throw them in the washing machine on a warm cycle with half the normal amount of washing detergent. I don't put mine in the dryer.. i just use a clothes rack to dry them in the sun. They can be put in the dryer on a low heat but it's not recommended to use the dryer all the time

I love Bonnibuns, they are made by a WAHM.

Most do, some sell the inserts separately. You will have to double check whether they do or not.

I wash mine in cold water, some people prefer to use warm water.
You use a third of the laundry detergent you would use on a normal load (too much detergent can build up in the nappies and create absorbency issues. Fabric softener is also a no-no).
I do a rinse cycle first, then a long wash.
I hang them in the sun, as it acts as a natural sanitizer and bleaches away stains.
Also remember that MCN's don't require soaking - you just pop them in a dry bucket after rinsing poop off :)

Terry flats. 20 bucks for a pack of 12 if you buy them new. They last for years. They can take over 10 bubs from birth to TT before they s tart to become thin. I won't us e any other type myself.
Terry flats are all I use for nights. No other nappy holds the amount of wee my DD does overnight. I fold in half to form a triangle, in half again for a smaller triangle, fasten with a snappy and put a wool cover over the top.
In the morning her PJs are dry, the inside of the wool wool feels a little damp and the terry nappy is soaking.
For the day time I have bumgenius, baby beehinds and some miscellaneous WAHM nappies
Ashley I've emptied it :)
Ok so can someone please tell me what inserts are? Are they changed at every change? Sorry I'm very new to the cloth thing :)
Genesa Forge is the best brand ive tried, and ive tried loads. Google it :)

An insert or booster is a piece of material which adds absorbency to the nappy. The material can be microfibre/bamboo/cotton (some are more absorbent than others).
You either change the insert OR change the entire nappy each change, depending on what nappy system you choose.
It's really easy to get overwhelmed when first trying cloth. There is a lot of different terminology, it's like a whole new language. It can be really confusing to begin with. Ask as many questions as you want :) There are lots of helpful clothies who would love to assist :)

:freakingout: so confusing I thought the systems were disposable or cloth. Gosh but there's different systems within the system (cloth) Ok off to look at all these nappies I am thinking the itti bitti as Ashley suggested they sound like they are the least work.

The least work is an AIO (All-In-One). It means that it's pretty much a disposable, but made of cloth. They are often nicknamed the 'Daddy friendly nappy'
Lots of different companies sell AIO's - all of the ones mentioned in this thread so far.

I have some itto bitti all in ones on lay by at the moment and I cantttt wait to use them once my womb ninja is here!!!!
They were a little costly but BBH's really hold their value and loads of people re-sell and swap them...
I get so excited when I hear people wanting to go cloth... I can't wait to do it myself!! :hyper:

RIGHT!!! Thats what AIO means wow Ok will be looking out for that. Daddy friendly sounds good as DH thinks I am crazy and doesn't know why I want to do this. I gave him so many reasons but he still doesn't get it. He thinks why give yourself more work:confused:

I had about 20 in constant rotation for DS...in the beginning...But it becomes an addiction - I don't know many people who just buy what they need
I now have a lot more than 20.
But seriously, 20-25 is a good amount for full-time use :)

LoCo, I would suggest trialling a few different types before buying a whole heap, just to make sure they work well for you. At the end of the day, it's a personal preference. Nappies which I hate, other Mum's love and vice versa.

^^^ I agree, buy a couple here or there.
Subscribe to BBH mailing list or Facebook because they do pretty good random specials to grab one or two cheap to try out first.
My favourite are these - http://www.babybeehinds.com.au/store/pc/BBH-Bamboo-Fitted-13p6.htm they need a nappy cover, but they are a good balance IMO because easy to wash & dry & easy to use. :) just remind daddy to put a cover on them cos my DF would forget - lol.
