Hi There all you Mums and Mums to be,

My name is Rachael I live on the Gold Coast, I have nearly completed my study as a Doula all I need are 2 births to complete it.

Some may ask What is a Doula if you do not know here is a link to find out here is a link to my page on Optimum birth it will explain a bit.
http://www.optimumbirth.com/doulaservices/...elberghuis.html (http://www.optimumbirth.com/doulaservices/rachaelberghuis.html)

I need to attend 2 Births to finish my training, I have attended 1 in training and need 2 more to complete. I have experienced 4 myself 2 natural and 2 emergency c-section and have been present at 3 other births

I thought that maybe there is someone out there, or you might know someone that could use a Doula, here is a bit about me for you to pass on, if you could help that would be great

Location: Gold Coast/ Tweed Area QLD

Training: Through Dr. Christine Vose at Optimum Birth

Length of training: Have completed all modules only prac to go.

Philosophy on birth: I have experienced 2 natural births and 2 ceasareans and been present a 3 other births and 1 in training
-Birth is normal, natural and healthy
-Womens inner wisdom guides then through birth
-Women have the right to birth how they feel and where they feel
-Childbirth/pregnancy is the most amazing miracle a women can experience

What I can offer: I believe that each mother is in charge of her own birth and can make the decisions she needs in order to facilitate this. My role as her Doula is to support her in whatever way she chooses to birth her baby, by providing information, comfort measures, an active role or a quiet presence.I offer emotional support. I am someone through whom she can process or interpret the medical information without ever taking over her role, to enable her to make the choices that are right for her and to have her voice heard.

I start my training as a Midwife in 2007
As I am still Training I offer my service for free http://members.*************.com.au/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif

Hi Rachael,
My name is Renee Nicks. I was on the internet the other night and was on Google looking up Doula's. I then signed up to Bub Hub. Which it then came up with your email. I had never heard of a Doula untill a few weeks ago, when a girlfriend of mine told me. Im 33 years old, im 7 months pregnant and am doing it alone. I have support of my father. My mother on the other hand is not so supportive and is very hot and cold. She is not accepting being a Grandmother and so I dont have much support as to when im in Labour or giving Birth! Hence I dont want my father there. I read your email and know you need 2 more births to complete your prac studies. I just wanted to know a little bit more about what you do as a Doula? I could not believe my eyes when I saw that its for free. Is there hidden costs or conditions? Im giving birth at the Gold Coast Hospital, my due date is 25th September. My Antenatal class is booked in for 18th July. I dont actually get to speak to a Dr untill im 36 weeks pregnant, my appointment is for 1st September. I did not have a good experience with a midwife at the hospital a couple of weeks ago, who was not available to answer any of my questions, and she rushed me out of there as soon as she could. I never even got to see a birthing ward etc. Are you open to Natural Births as well as C-section? What is your view on pain killers during birth? What is your role while the women is in labour? Can I have a girlfriend there as well? Any way I would love to hear back from you
