My nephew came out with a massive rash and swelling on Monday night... swollen tongue, lips, eyes and big red itchy welts all over his body (big as your hand!)

Nothing has changed for him at all, excpet on Monday night he had salmon for tea (eats lots of fish, but first time with salmon) Could this be the culprit?

Has anyone else's kids had anything like this before?

It seems to settle down during the day, but at night gets really bad and his head etc just swells up heaps!

He's going to the allergy doctor today, so hopfully they will get some idea of what's going on...

does this sound like a normal allergic reaction? anyone experienced anything similar?

My DS's both have allergies although DS1 is more to food and DS2 is more environmental irritants.

Salmon/ seafood/shellfish are a common allergens and can cause that type of reaction. I am sure the allergy Dr will do a test to work that out. Has he had any antihistimine to help with the swelling?

My DS1 gets hives espcially around his eyes and it looks very dramatic and is quite serious. DS2 had an unknown allergic reaction this weekend, localised swelling and redness around his eyes, still haven't found the cause but it has gone now.

Hope your nephew feels better soon :hugs:
