cost of laparoscopy in adelaide?

hi girls, just wondering if i am needing a laparoscopy, i was wondering what the costs would be? we have PHI, so think you need to pay the excess for the hospital, but how much was the actual surgery/anaethesist (wrong spelling) etc. and then how much did you get back from medicare? gonna have to try and budget now for it. great time of year being xmas and all....

I think all the PHI are different in what they cover. I know I have only ever paid an excess for gyno surgery, nothing for actual op. For the GA I'd budget around 500-600 but you will get some back from medicare. If you have the lap this calendar year and have crossed the safety net with medicare you will get 80% back.

I am booked in for hysteroscopy and D&C in less than a fortnight. Crossed the threshold much earlier in the year so am hoping to have GA fees almost covered and no excess as we have had 3 as a family so far this year.

Would pay to check with your PHI though, I know some are different.

I went through the public system and mine was free. I didnt pay a cent. I am also seeing an amazing dr. His name is Dr.O'Shea and he did an amazing job. He does see patients on private health. But I got send to him through the public system. I also dont have to pay to see him.
