View Full Version : Love being a 20something mum!
I had so many people tell me that while in my 20's I should date, but nothing too serious, explore the world, have adventures, find out who I was; because once I got married and had kids I wouldn't be able to do any of that.
What a load!!! I am happily married to my best friend, who I couldn't have more fun with, I have an amazing 16 month old boy, who is an adventure in and of himself. Then there is the wonder of exploring everything with him, remembering how exciting it is to discover flowers and animals and watching him reach milestone after milestone. And all of this I get to share with my DH!!!
Our plans for travel my be a few years off, and I can't just pick up and drop of the face of the earth like some of my friends, but the things I have learned about myself, my world and the people around me could not have been found by any other method than taking on all the great and important responsibilities that I have whilst in my twenties. :cheerleader2::cheerleader1::cheerleader2:

100% agreed :) not to mention how quickly I bounced back from pregnancy and birth!
My son has given me a whole new perspective on life - and has pointed me in the direction that I need to go to succeed in my future career and my life.
Yay for being a young mum!!

I'm glad you enjoy being a 20yr old mummy, I do too :goodvibes:
I was pregnant with my first at 23; we certainly don't feel like we've missed out on anything and wouldn't change a thing :)

We had our first at 21, now 22 and would love to have finished having our 3 kids by 25/26 :) We have already travelled the world together, built our first home and own our car outright. I love every moment spent with my dd and wouldnt have it any other way :)

I had my first at 18 (which means I didn't do the clubbing thing because I was pregnant!) But honestly I couldnt care less as the time I enjoy with my boys is so much better then time spent with drunk jerks
I'm now turning 24 in may and my 3rd is due in July. :smiliedance:

I love having my children in my early 20's (had my 1st just after my 20th birthday). I love it! I wouldnt change it. And when the kids are old enough to move out of home I will still be young enough to enjoy life and travel and do everything that all my friends are currently doing now. I got the energy now to run after kids and enjoy them and when I am late 30's-40's I may not have the energy to do what I do now.

Agree with all above! I was 22 when I got married & had ds. Now 23 and bubba 2 is due in August.
So glad we are having kids young :)
We both partied hard at 18 and now are well & truly ready to settle down and spend the rest of our lives together focused on the family we are making :) :)
Mummy & Daddy - expanding our family! Our little man born April 2011 and now expecting another munchkin in August 2012! Loving it!!!!! :D

Don't you love when people tell you how to live your life? Each to their own. Life isn't one-size-fits-all!! I was 'ready' at 24 and when I fell pregnant at 26 it was totally right!! Happiness comes about through being grateful for what you have, not longing for what you don't.

I guess I'm not entirely a mum yet, but he'll be fully cooked in 17 weeks and then I'll be a little over 21 :) and I can not wait :) I've done everything I could have during my life, and am happy to give up being a partier like all of my friends because I know I'm getting something beautiful out of it.
I'm 22 and due in 16weeks to our first. I clubbed and partied very hard, went out 3+ times every week getting blind that by 19 I was over it. Moved in with partner and we got engaged before my 21st and had already talked about having a family as soon as we got married but we got our happy little surprise a bit earlier than expected.

I had my first 8 days before my 22nd birthday and number 2 at 24 I could not be happier I tryed the clubbing thing so did DH who is 23 just was not for me, I was lost didn't know what I wanted to do with my life now I am a SAHM and wife and I love it!
I'm pregnant with our first, which will be born just before my 23rd birthday. My partner's 25. Can't wait to enjoy being young-ish parents :)
We've done a little bit of travelling, and have our own house. As much as we'd like to be more financially stable, have traveled more etc., those things can go on hold for now...happy to have other priorities.

I agree! I never wanted kids and if they had to come along I wanted them to be in my 30's - late 30's.
Stuff that! I love having DD, had her when I was almost 25 (I turned 25 a week later).
Wouldn't change a thing!!
Same! Never wanted kids of my own. I love babies but then DD came along and now I want more! Haha.
