Hi, my partner works offshore, 5 weeks on and 5 weeks off. When he is away, i have my 1 year old and 2.5 year old in a good routine, bed on time etc etc. However when he is home, my 2.5 year old refuses to go to bed. We have tried everything - leaving her in the room (she cried for an hour and we gave up as her crying woke our 1 year old), we've tried letting her sleep with us, reading and singing to her, everything!!! We are at our wits end and she is cranky and tired the next day. Can anyone help before i completely lose my mind!! I know it all comes down to her being all out of whack with her dads line of work, but at the moment the work situation can't be helped. Thank you!

Have you tried following the same routine you would if DH was at work but allowing DH to step in and do everything that you normally would when it comes to putting her to bed? It may be that when he is there she just wants that extra with him because she knows that soon he won't be there.

Other than that all I could suggest is you to follow your routine (the one you use when DH is working) and have DH disappear for about 1/2hr before she goes off to bed and while you put her to bed.

I don't really know but those are things I would try
