I was just wadering do you know who can I go to to get my daughter checked for mild cerebral palsy. My daughter was born at 26 weeks, she had seizures , but they seem to have stopped now that she is 6. She has been diagnosed with autism and a mild intellectual disability. She did not walk until she was 21 months and had to have a special chair from the hospital to help her sit up until she was 18 months. She had to have a cast on her right leg last year and she is very stiff, walks on her toes still and cannot crouch and tires very easily as she cannot walk for very long, but her Pedeatrcian says she does not have CP, I thought she might have a mild form, but don't who or where to go to to assess her as she still walks on her toes and cannot walk for longer than 10minutes.
1elf2elf- you need to see a neurologist (paediatric one), you should be able to get a referral to one via your gp. Its strange that your paed doesn't think she has cp, it sounds like she definately has high muscle tone (stiffness in her legs, and toe walking). My son has cp but is floppy and we have been told by a neurologist. He is an ex 32 weeker and now has seizures as well as well as many other issues. Hope this helps.

Thank you very much for your response. I will definately get a referral to see a neurologist. I was just wandering how old is you son now and at what age was he diagnosed with CP? Can he walk and run now? Also did they have to do an mri scan as well. My daughter has had a few ct scans and mri scans because of the seizures.
1elf2elf he has only just been diagnosed at 2. He is not walking yet but we are doing lots of physio and hopefully he will next year with a walking frame to begin with. He was an ex prem 32 weeker and had an MRI at 2 weeks of age and another at 1. He will get another one at 3years of age. He has also had a ct scan. If your in vic let me know can give you the name of a great paediatric neurologist from Melbourne. Goodluck with it all.
