I am just wondering of somebody can help me understand my own menstral cycle as I am TTC #2. :smiliedance:
I have tried using a maybe baby and OPK as well as fertility friend but have had no luck with any of these to predict ovulation. :gloomy:
My last cycle consisted of 37 days from CD1 - CD37. The one before that was 36 cycle days. I am wondering how I roughly determine ovulation?
I very much doubt that I ovulate on CD14 (as with a 28 day cycle). So how do I work it out??
Any help would be MUCH appreciated!
the other way you could do is by taking your temperature each morning as per fertility friend, i think you said you tried FF tho? there is no easy way of knowing if you did ovulate without really keeping track of temperature increases, maybe baby will show when you are about to ovulate but you would only know the exact day by a temperature increase
Moneyfelix, i would have suggested OPKS or maybe baby.
I hope some of the more knowledgable TTCers can help you hunny!
Good Luck!:fingerscrossed:
hey chicky, you NORMALLY O 14 days before AF, so on a 37 day cycle, you would NORMALLY O on or around CD23!
But this being said my cycles have always been over 35 days, i have recently been to a Fertility Specialist and found out i have PCOS.
He said women with a 28-31 day cycle normally are ok and DO O on their own.
Women with a cycle getting over 31 days and even more so over 35 as less likely to actually be O'ing at all. This was my problem.
So if you still cant get it, it cant hurt to go and have a chat to your GP, and he then may send you onto a FS.

Hi Moneyfelix. I have just gotten pregnant with #2. I have a 24/26 Day cycle and had the same problem! ?when did I O?
I used BBT, OPKs (over 10 days in my cycle to make sure I didn't miss O) and also checked my CM. I charted the lot on FF and BINGO - ovulation predicted. None of the methods worked in isolation for me. I needed to use all 3. My BBT only rose gradually after O - so it wasn't obvious on its own. I also had CM for a day post ovulation. Plus, I never got a dark positive on my OPK as I probably have a short surge. However, FF was correct as to the day I O'd as we BD at the right time and I am now 5 weeks pregnant.
You have a longish cycle so you may need to use an OPK for about 10 days in your cycle. They cost a bomb in the shops so order on line at www.lullabyconceptions.com.au where you can get about 20 for $35. You can also email them for any advice on use or reading results. Worked for me!
PS - as gross as it sounds - the best way to accurately check CM is to put your fingers where the sun don't shine! The things we do for babies!
Good luck

When I was doing Billings method, I was told that the interval from the ovulation to the onset of menstruation is constant at 14-16 days, so deduct that from 37, and it is around CD 21-23. Look for lots of CM that looks like eggwhite, and it should feel slippery when you wipe with toilet paper.
I was also told that the CM can become unfavorable before ovulation, so it is important to BD ahead of O.
 Hi - I definitely think that temping/charting is the best way to see what is happening - plus the use of OPK's help. I found that charting for a couple of months and then using opk's around the time you usually o (according to your charts) worked the best. I o from day 13 -16 so I start using opk's on about day 12 until I get a +. Even Fertility Specialists will ask to see your charts - as it helps them determine what is happening. It is a pain in the ( ; ) having to temp every moning before you get out of bed - but very helpful. Good luck

Hi, my cycles are about 38 days on average. I ovulated on day 25 last month and I think day 26th this month. You should add a day for everyday your cycle passes 28 days to your ovulation date. So if you were a consistant 37 days, you would ovulate on day 24 of your cycle.
