Hi,

I'm not pregnant yet, but I have been doing research and am thinking of having an elective c/s when the time comes. I will be going public and my closest hospital is RPA in Camperdown. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience getting an elective c/s there? I know it will have to be in the labour ward not the birthing centre, but do some doctors refuse to do elective c/s if its not for medical reasons? (which mine wont be hopefully). I'm jsut wondering if I'm up for a fight when I ask for an elective c/s.

Any advice or info. would be appreciated
Thanks!

Apparently the best way to get a free elec c-section at a public hospital is to lie about medical history so the doctors believe you need one.

That reason is wearing thin in the public hospital system these days according to a Midwife I know at RPAH.
