My sister's 30th birthday is coming up. She said to me that we had better do something special for her because shes single and has no kids, and so hasnt had lots of occasions. :rolleyes:

Anyways, I have NO idea. She is single, lives in a rented studio apartment in sydney, and is subject to move/travel at any moment.

DH's sister is 30 next year and has insisted that we have to go and visit for her birthday and its probably going to cost us about $3000 :rolleyes:

*sigh* is a 30th birthday really that special anyway?!

Ask her what she wants! I think when you are single with no kids birthdays are a big deal , how much did you want to spend ?

I dont know! But she said she won't tell what she wants, so she might just end up with something from Oxfam!

I bought my sister a fossil watch for her 30th, it suited her well, white, silver an full of bling :)

Hi,

I kind of get the whole 'make a big deal thing'... My sister also just turned 30, is very single and at this stage not likely to be getting married/babies anytime soon. Yet she has celebrated both my brother and my's engagements, weddings, babies, christenings, etc, etc so we definitely made a big deal of her 30th! We threw her a surprise party and bought her some gorgeous Tiffany jewelry. She loved it!!!

And your guys are right it is a big deal, and I would have left a big deal, I think i'm just annoyed.at SIL expecting us.to spend so much

My favorite handbag brand is Oroton - they're exxy ($300ish) but not ridiculously exxy!

Can I just say - I am 30 on friday and I would LOVE it if people made a big deal about me!! But because I have kids I guess it will be all about them LOL oh and i'll be 34 weeks so we arent really having a 'thing' coz i think I wont be into it enough so i'm going to have a 30+1 next year lol
