Hi! Mods - feel free to move.

Cobey's exclusively breastfed, only had a bottle of EBM 3 times, 2 of those times he threw a massive fit over the ordeal which was quite stressful, the 3rd time he took it fine but we were at someone elses house and had a friend (thanks Pukky!) feed him. But we can't ALWAYS go over and give him a brottle IYKWIM.

It was suggested to put him on a sippy cup as it's completely different to a bottle/boob. So I'm going to buy some Avent 3 Month cup spouts for him soon so have a drink a week or so of EBM.

Am I likely to run into issues with cup feeding him so young? And if I am, how can I make it easy?

Thanks girls :D

hi nikki

my little darling doesn't lke the avent spouts so i have a couple of white ones you can have if you want them. also if you email avent about starting to use a sippy cup they will probably send you one for free. www.avent.com.au

You can also use just open cups, but really soft flexible ones and pour a tiny bit into baby's mouth, or they even start lapping it up.
There are no issues i've ever heard of using cups.

Hi Seekrit! I have one of those spouts, free from Avent from back when I was addicted to freebies  (I was bored, I know) and it fits the avent bottles, if that's the type of bottle you already have. I havn't used it though because my Ariene is a boobaholic and I'm not bothering with or have the need to do anything different. My only piece of advice is that I think that the companies that make these things get a bit silly with their age recommendations- a 3-month old is pretty young for this kind of product in my opinion, and certainly don't beat yourself up or get too frustrated if Cobey doesn't take to a spout at this stage, some do but some don't.

Thanks for the advice, angie :) although open cup feeding seems a bit messy!

Emma - I won't beat myself up, over it, I know what you mean tho' about them being a bit young. Just something to try tho' hehe! The only reason that I'm doing this is because I'm going back to work in about 3 months. :crying:
