I have been taking my BBT this last cycle and using FF to get an idea of my cycles before we startt TTC #2.

The thing is FF says :
* Temperature Fluctuations:Your temperature seems to fluctuate more than usual.

Is this bad? I take my temp orally at the same time EVERY morning. No exceptions. I even take it under the exact same part of my tongue.

Also is there a way to fix it? Ist it my hormones still all whacky?

As you can see I have no clue as to why this could be happening.

Thanks in advance! :D

temping vaginally seems to stop the fluctuations, i was getting temps all over the place too when i first started temping, so i changed on the next cycle to temping vaginally as suggested by FF

I get that too- temp fluctuates so much that I cant really tell if I am even ovulating???...

I temp orally so maybe change that, does temping underarm work?

na i think underarm temping would be even less accurate. I reakon try vaginally ;)

Hi brions_mum

I hope this helps you... when taking your BBT it is a bit scientific if you want accurate results.

One thing to do is control ALL Variables:
Variables are the things that change, can be the use of electric blankets, keeping bed times in the same vacinity (for the most part), whatever it is that changes most. You need to be able to control them, so they don't change during the cycle. That way your controlling variables

by doing that you eliminate flucuations due to " last night I went to bed 11pm, next night 8pm" that is a change and can account for variations.

It could be also, that once you control your BBT and are sure its not that, it could be hormone related. You can check by seeing your Gyno and asking him/her for a hormone BT

:fingerscrossed:

hi- i had/have the same prob with my temps i temped underarm and it was all over the place! then for the last 5-6days i been doing it down there and i seem to be geting better temps but- roxy76 gave me a good tip on how to keep my temps less outa wack.. this is what she said

what u could try is adjusting the temps so they are in line. Pick a general time that you would usually get up. For eg 6am
Then for every temp before 6am, add 0.05 degree to temp per 30 mins mins out
For every temp afer 6am, minus 0.05 degree off temp per 30 mins out.
that is what charting sites suggest if you temp at all different times and see if it brings them less out of whack...ive been doing that and it really did help.

Hi Brion's mum,

I have fluctuating temps too, I checked out FF and yes, it said to take my temp vaginally instead of orally... I'm not too enthusiastic about it but guess I'll give it a try, I'll probably get some funny looks from hubby!

And I do sleep with my mouth open....I didn't realise that might affect it? How weird!

At least it's warming up so that thermometer won't be so cold in the mornings hey!!:p

Hi again Ladies...

there has being lots of talk about sleeping with your mouth open. i do to and i have a CPAP machine that blows cold air into my mouth/nose all night long.

i've managed to get a normal biphasic pattern on my chart by:

controlling the variables and mine are, going to bed at about the same time, only having the electric blanket on till i am sleepy, turning off the sleep machine 1/2 hour before temping and making sure that i empty the bladder before bed so i don't have to get up or rush in the mornings...

i hunted around FF to find out what to do with my sleep machine pumping cold air all night, and they said that it's perfectly fine to allow 1/2 hour for your basal temp to heat up again in the half an hour before taking the temp and wont affect the chart and it hasn't...

has worked for me, it could work for you as well

Thank you so much for all of your help guys!

I am actually a chronic mouth-open sleeper, so that probably has a lot to do with it. I'm like you Razzy not so keen on temping vaginally, DP will be wondering why the beeps are coming from down south and not near the pillow! But I guess I will start to give that a go.

LJ H thanks for all of the other info you gave as well - very informative, man you must have quite a task at keeping things regulated! Good luck with TTC andf your apnea!

wishingandhoping, PiercedDoll, sexy_minx thanks heaps for your input too! Good luck with all of your TTc journeys and in your case PD your preg journey!
