hey everyone I am mev ,we are moving to hervey bay , from outside of australia, me my husband and our 2.5 yr old.
my husband got a job in marryborough and hervey bay, he says he wants to go a couple of months earlier , so that he can arrange things for us ,like house and car, and that he thinks because we wont be having a home and car to move around ( as he says there isn't a bus service or anything) it would be really hard for us to survive , and so until he goes there arranges the money me n my son shouldn't come...
i just want to know how much money do we really need to start a life in hervey bay ? and is car really a must ?
oh n we will be provided free accomodation for the first month.
I am really banking on your feedback to convince my husband its workable if we all go together ,dont want to be left behind for months :(

Hey i live in Hervey Bay and it's pretty peaceful, the buses are reliable as it's a pretty small town, you can pretty much walk anywhere.
Honestly it is not any more expensive than anywhere else in Australia.
I am a 24yr old stay at home mum (No income) with a 10month old and a partner on a blind pension who supports us all, And we're not eating beans for dinner every night ;)
Feel free to contact me if you need to know more about the bay.

I can assist you with any details about life in Hervey Bay the surrounding areas, such as Maryborough and Howard. My father in law lived in Howard (just 15-20 mins form Hervey Bay) for many years and my husband lived up there for the last 18months whilst his father was ill.

As an overview, Hervey Bay is a lovely place but is very touristy. If your husband is working in Maryborough & Hervey Bay, you might like to also consider Howard. It is half way between both towns and is a quiet rural town with all the amenities you could want, including a primary school, and everything is within walking distance. The people are very friendly and help each other out. So you would have the backup support of the local community whilst hubby is away at work. PLUS there are buses that run each day to Maryborough and Hervey Bay if you feel the need. Weather is fantastic in that part of Queensland too.

Hope this helps. I am also on facebook if you want more information.
