Just a couple of questions to anyone else who's had a 3rd degree tear at birth.

What is DTD like after having a 3rd degree tear? I'm single so I haven't DTD since I was about 3 months pregnant (a year ago).

Also, how did any subsequent births go? Did you tear again? If so, how badly?

Thanks!

I had a complete tear and did not DTD again for about a year - I was single during the time tho! It was all healed by then but I remember still feeling very scared!

Well, it has been 3 1/2 months for me now and I still havent DTD. In fact, I am only now just starting to feel a bit better down there. So hopefully soon. Sure not going to rush it though, not with that kind on injury.
Lucky my husband is amazingly supportive.
I would also be interested in knowing how it went for mothers the second time round.

3rd degree tear here!

DTD about 4 weeks post delivery and it was really stingy :( probably again at 6wks. I didn't feel confident in it all holding together for months tho!!

Am having another baby in Feb so hoping it won't be so bad this time. But if it is I know I'll recover... eventually :)

Ist birth was 3rd degree, dtd um can't really remember, probably after 8 weeks? and it was fine.

2nd birth 2nd degree tear, but I was trying not to push too hard at crowning, 3rd birth just a graze, as I made sure I breathed the baby out at crowning, did not help push at all.

Captainscaptain - How were you positioned when you gave birth? Lying down, standing etc, and did you have an epidural or anything? There are quite a lot of factors which if handled correctly, can vastly improve your chances of not tearing nearly as badly next time around.

I was on my back, no drugs, but I pushed waaaay to hard and fast at crowning. I wanted him out!
