A brief overview of the Attachment Parenting philosophy:
First and foremost, there are no set ‘rules’ for attachment parenting. Parents may choose to follow all or just some of the basic practices. The most important aspect of this approach is that the child and parent develop and nurture a strong connection, by understanding your child’s physical and emotional needs and responding to those needs in a sensitive manner.
Dr. William Sears and his wife Martha (who both conceived the term ‘Attachment Parenting') state that AP is “a style of caring for your infant that brings out the best in the baby and the best in the parents”. It promotes physical and emotional closeness between the parent and child through what Sears refers to as the "7 Baby Bs.": Bonding, Breastfeeding, Babywearing, Bedsharing/Bedding close to baby, Belief in the language value of your baby's cry, Beware of Baby trainers and Balance. Click (http://www.askdrsears.com/topics/attachment-parenting/what-ap-7-baby-bs) for more information on the Baby B's. Attachment Parenting has both short and long term benefits, and I hope to provide some interesting articles and studies on this topic to this section. But for now, here are some useful links:
