Our Dr told us the general rule of thumb for teething, and I was just curious to see if it was true or not! And what better place to 'survey' a bunch of mums than here!

Apparently it's their age in months, minus 6 = the amount of teeth they shoudl have

DS is 9 months, minus 6 = 3.
He's currently cutting teeth 5 and 6 (Granted, he's actually gotten the 4 top teeth at once...)

I'm not trying to get into that 'my baby is more advanced than yours' cr&p that some mums get sucked into, it's just a bit of fun and to see if the formula was actually right

My DS definately doesn't fit the formula! He is four months and he has two teeth already. Well, I suppose, 4-6=-2, if you take off the negative, it would be right

My DD is 9 1/2 months and going by the formula should have 3 teeth.
She only got her first tooth 5 days ago, so doesn't work for us.
I'm sure somewhere along the way though that it would match up coincedently (sp)

DD cut her first 2 teeth at 11mths and didn't get any more for about 5mths, LOL. She finally cut her last one a month before her 4th birthday.

DS1.....he was pretty much right on schedule with all of his.

DS1.....he got his first 2 teeth at 10wks, then went another 6mths or so before cutting any more.

Going by that EJ should have 4 teeth (or 5 in a couple weeks) - She has the 2 bottoms but is cutting one next to them (i think) and is cutting 1st molars also according to last doc i saw. If all of those 3 come through in a couple of weeks then it would be right?

I hadn't heard of this one before!!

DD got her first 2 teeth the week she turned 6 months old.

She got all her next teeth at regular 2 month intervals - always in pairs...

So thus far we've had:

6m - 2
8m - 4
10m- 6
12m - ?

DD turns 1 in just over a week and has been having all sorts of teething dramas the past few days! She's got one desperately trying to break through, and I can see at least 4 (yes, 4!! ) trying to cut through as well! Poor little thing is having a rough time of it!! So we shall see how many she has by her first birthday!

Going by the formula, my DD is 7.5 months so should be 7.5 - 6 = 1.5 teeth.:D

That's pretty much right in our case - Elouise has 2 teeth now that only just cut through last week. They aren't all the way up though, still have a little way to to go yet.

Wow! I think it does work. My son is 14 months. SDo, 14 months minues 6 would be 8 AND HE DOES HAVE 8 teeth!!! 4 at the top and 4 at the bottom. Cool! ;)

 PFFFFT, DD is nearly 11 months and still has no teeth so she definitely doesn't fit the formula!

DD is 10mths and just got her 3rd tooth...looks like a 4th is not to far away tho so maybe it works for her.

DS it would never have worked for, he was completly gummy til he was 17mths old  he got the last 6 teeth just before his 3rd birthday.

  8 months and no teeth!!!

From memory - DS2 had 4 teeth at 8 months, so it didn't work for him either.

Interesting thoery, but when do kids ever follow theories - well mine don't:D
