I've been advised to start my son on solids for his reflux. He's also really interested in what we eat, grabs it and tries to chew.
I'm just a little confused... Do I continue with 5 milk feeds a day & add solids half an hour after 1-2 of the milk feeds? Or do I replace 1-2 milk feeds with solids?

Milk before solids until they're 1, until then, food is just for fun. I hate to say it, but solids didn't help with either of my children's reflux.

I give my dd solids 2 hours after a bottle because if I do it any sooner she throws the whole lot up.

With a reflux bub a food diary might be a good idea so you can avoid foods that cause a flare up.

That's a good idea. ^ my dd now 8 months only started projectile vomiting around 6 months and now rarely does it now on AR formula.

What else helps babies with reflux?

I didn't have a reflux baby but I did have a super spewy baby and yes solids did help. Both my boys were on solids by 4 months because some babies just aren't satisfied with milk alone. My two were big boofers and they were still hungry after bottles so I started with some mashed pumpkin, zucchini, sweet potato and then added bits of beef and chicken and tuna :)

Try with fairly bland non-acidic foods. Raw tomato will still set my 2 year old off, although now she knows it hurts her so she just avoids it.

I started solids at 5 months and within 3 weeks I completely stopped his zantac & mylanta which he'd been on since he was 2 months old.
I started with pears and bland vegies. Definitely keep a food diary, you'll quickly work out what agrees and what doesn't with your bubs.

I found that initially broccoli and red capsicum would increase DS' reflux. He's fine with it now.

Otherwise the usual early starter fruit (apple, pear, banana) and veg (potato, sweet potato, zucchini, pumpkin) were good.

Okay, awesome. What kind of reactions should I be looking out for?Do you mean reactions in regards to his reflux?
I probably sound silly but this is all so new to me and the doctor did nothing but confuse me.

Increased fussing, throwing up, pain, you'll know when something doesn't agree with bubs.

Thank you = ) I'll keep a look out. It seems as though banana doesn't agree with him.
Thank you ladies.
