i know they're probably all still in the back of cupboards or in a box in the garage somewhere, but i'd love to see anyone's kid's christmas stockings. I'm going to make one for DS and would love some inspiration

TIA

I made big sacks for my kids out of Christmas fabric from Spotlight, with a red draw string top. They are a little bigger than a pillow case.

I then bought red, green and white felt to sew their names on them. One big rectangle of red, smaller rectangle of green and white letters of their name, sewn on with blanket stitch in red cotton. Hard to explain, but it looks great.

oh yeah i can imagine that. did you sew the letters on or just the red and green felt? I think i'm too lazy to stitch his name, i might get some of those iron-on letters.

I'm better at sewing than ironing! I sewed them on, probably a good thing they only get used once a year.

hand sewn or with the machine? How big were the letters? I'm just going to do a traditional stocking so quite small. Sorry for the 20 questions :o

Hand sewn, but machine would work too. Letters were about 10cm high. I printed them off in word and cut them out for templates.

SIL made DS and DD felt stockings the year before last. She used iron on letters and also stitched on a few bells and angels/santas. They're very cute and very cherished in this house. Will have to get her to whip up another one for DD2

The stitching on the sack is white, which makes it a little hard to see in the photo, but you get the idea!
