I was using S26 gold from 4 months onwards now my son is 11 1/2 months and I switched to regular S26 about 4 weeks ago because my son was refusing to drink his bottles. i think it made a little bit of difference, but it's hard to tell since he's teething and eating a lot of solids.
I use Nan 1Ha gold - have had no probs with it!

I used Heinz Nurture Gold for ds! I found it more cost effective plus he liked it! :)
I used sma then s26 follow-on for dd and heinz follow-on for ds.
The cheaper brands are usually just as good as the more exy ones that have "added extras" as the additives usually only have a short (only a matter of hours) life once the can is opened, so you are basically paying more for fresh air!

I used Karicare when I had to top up after breastfeeding DS from about 4-7months.
I switched to Heinz 6mths + formula (around $11.50) when I weaned DS off breastfeeding and he didn't know the difference...not a fuss pot when it comes to his drink...just like daddy!!
Hi, I use the Nan 2Ha gold. We only just switched over from Nan 1Ha gold. I find the number 2 alot thicker, but dd took to it no worries.

I used S-26 Gold Step 1, 2 and 3 with DD1. I now use S-26 Gold Step 1 with DD2. I have never had any troubles with it and won't be changing anytime soon.
We're on Karicare too, originally it was the Karicare goat, now we're back on the Karicare Gold follow on.
S26 Gold Step 1
Kelsie has been drinking it as a top up to BF from 11 days old and a couple of weeks ago was weaned onto it full time. Have had no problems at all with it (apart from the price - I find it to be the most expensive)

Not sure if this is the right place to post but......has anyone found that Formula can contribute to Eczema symptoms??
I have used Karicare Infant since bubba was 3 weeks to supplement breastfeeding and then started on it full time at about 4 months of age.....he has now started to get Eczema.....wondering if the formula is contributing??
Cheers
I use S26 Gold for the 10.30pm feed and Oli just gobbles it up.
Speaking to a few ladies at baby class that use the same and we decided the only reason we chose the Gold is because it was the most expensive....figured it had to be good :D
ive never had any probs...
Karicare Step 1
I use Karicare Step 1 and find DD gobbles it up no problems.
But I will be switching over to Heinz Follow On when she is 6 months old...mainly due to the price.
If you check the nutrients on the back of the tins, you will find that there is little to differentiate between the brands (except the price!). :D

I used SMA until DD was around 17 months. It was one my CHN had mentioned and the only one I recognised on the shelf. I'll admit I was overwhelmed and confused by all the variations on S26 and Karicare brands. And SMA was cheapest :o
I was told there was no need to switch to a follow on formula, DD would be getting enough of the "extras" in her solid meals, so didn't bother for a long time. I only switched later, to Karicare toddler, because she still wouldn't drink milk on it's own but was going off her usual SMA too.
Try this, Donna.

If your child has any food allergies, then they will play a major role in causing eczema. The problem is, you may not know if your child has any food allergies, and if he does, which foods is he allergic to? Thankfully, there are six common foods that make up nearly 90% of possible allergic foods. These are milk, egg, soy, peanuts, fish and wheat. Eliminate all 6 foods for 2 to 3 weeks. If you see dramatic improvement, then re-introduce each food one at a time to determine which is causing the allergy.
Hi,
I came onto this thread trying to find information on the same thing - excema and formula. My bub is 9 and 1/2 months and I've just gone from BF to formula and he seems to have had an excema flare-up on his cheeks. I was wondering whether it was linked. We're using S26 Step 2.
Interesting though, yesterday I also gave him a salmon pattie (which had some egg in it) and I see that fish and egg are two of the things which can also cause flare-ups.....
Still none the wiser, but I hate seeing my bub with flare-ups on his face and some patches on his body.
We went on to the Karicare Goat formula because Nathan had reflux and eczema. Originally we tried soy, but that gave him awful wind pains. My hubby had goats milk (not formula) when he was a baby to help with his eczema.

Kaiden was on Heinz Nuture but it wasn't filling him, so we switched to SMA after talking to CHN.

S26 Gold from day one...no problem whatsoever :)
We used S26 with DS and started DD on S26 but then changed her to Heinz Nurture seeing she was gobbling formula down like no tomorrow. Heinz being cheaper, we could also make 200ml and 4 scoops whereas with S26 the most we could fit in a bottle was 180mls and 3 scoops, anything else would overfill our bottles.
Karicare Sensicare due to reflux - but takes it like a champ :)

I have used a few brands of formula. We basically buy the formula thats on special which is usually SMA. I also commonly use the nurture brand as well. I have used S26 but only when we have ran out and its a last resort (only because of its price).
jaydensmum.
When Jayden was bout 2.5mths I started him on S26 gold and then when he was about 6 months he was put on S26 step 2 and for about a month he has been getting cows milk during the day but still the formula at night time. He is on his last tin of formula, once he has finished that its all cows milk.

I trid Charlee on the Nurture and she kept throwing it up, so we put her on the normal s26, and she gobbles it down with no probs. Pity about the price though...i'm not game enough to try her on something cheaper yet...

Xavier was on Heniz first but his tummy wasn't strong enough for it so we put him on Karicare HA. At 4months I changed him back to Heinz but it made him constipated so now we are on NAN and he's fine with it!

Issy is on S26 Gold. He first had Nan as it was what the hospital gave us to complentary feed him with. Once I decided that he was going on the bottle full-time we switched to S26. He had a tummy ache for a few days until I switched from 120mls to 180mls - then he settled down
I stopped b/f #`1 by 6months & she went onto Karicare Goatsmilk formula as did#2 but had to change her to S26 thickend formula to help with reflux :( . I have been told that goats milk is the next best thing to b/milk as its easier to digest than cows milk & bub's are more likley not to hav any adverse reactions to it - but it is over 20.00 a tin in my local coles so its not the cheapest option. It also dosent smell as much when it comes up like the S26 did. Iam still b/f #3 but she'll go onto the goats milk too when its time to stop feeding :D
Hi,
I weaned my son with food allergies onto Nan HA. Both my paediatrician and allergy specialist said that it was good for children who suffered from eczema. That was about 2 years ago so there may be better options now. But I found that he had less eczema on the formula than he did while I was breastfeeding because I was eating foods he was allergic to.
I use Nan gold atm and find it really good.
Hi All
I used Nan HA Gold for my little girl from day 1 (actually from 20 mins old) and she had no probs. Switched to Nan HA GOld 2 at 6 months and it was a lot thicker in the bottle but she didn't argue.
At 11 months I had half a tin left and started doing 1/2 formula and 1/2 milk and kept decreasing formula until it was all cows milk and she is drinking more ml of cows milk than she ever did of formula. What a champ.

My boy was on S-26 when he was first born as a top up to my bf him due to him being a bigger bubs but then he went onto it for all his feeds which in turn he had major dramas he would actually scream & cry when he pooed ! We then turned Heinz Nuture Starter like a lot of others due to price & had no dramas since. He wouldve stayed on this but he started not getting his fill so he went onto Heinz Follow-On at 6mths due to him no longer settling on the Nuture Starter. I was also told by both my CHN'c as well as the ped that there really isnt much difference between formulas unless of course your going into the speciality ones say those designed for food allergies or relux for instance.

We use Karicare Gold 2, we started with S26 Gold but we had a lot of tummy troubles. Once we switched over they were a lot better!!!
We also used Karicare Gold with ods too. Both my boys had very upset tummies with S26 Gold, so will def know not to even try it next time!!

We have used s26 gold since birth, my daughter had always had trouble with constipation. Not sure whether it is her or a comination of the formula...Countdown to weening 12 cans left!!!
