Hello Newcastle peeps

We are strongly considering locating from the Port Stephens area to somewhere around Newcastle.

We are renters with an 8 month old DS and we would really like to rent in a nice suburb that is not ‘rough’.

It would be nice to find a house in a peaceful area where we can go on some nice pram walks from home. Somewhere leafy or a short-ish drive from the beach or lake would be great.

Can anyone point me in the right direction of which suburbs are nice and family friendly? I think the maximum rent we really want to pay is about $400 p/w. We work in Mayfield and are willing to commute up to about 45 mins.

FYI, we’ve only been in Port Stephens for 18 months, hence why there is still a lot of Newcastle that we are not familiar with.

Thanks heaps :)

Hi Moosie. We currently live in Dungog and we're thinking of moving to Newcastle. We're looking for pretty much the same things you want in a suburb and I think we've narrowed it down to lake macquarie - warner's bay/ ellebana area/speers point.

Lots of luck with the search:rolleyes:

We live in the Kotara/New Lambton/Lambton are and love it! Close to trains and busses and also a short walk to major shopping centres and facilities.

I like that we are fairly 'central' to everything here.....

Just replying because I grew up on Lake Macquarie but have been in WA for 8 years and wish it was me moving to Newcastle.
If I was to move back now I would look for house in Merewether.
