So I know a bill was passed that made SA the final state to accept Same sex parents on a birth certificate, but I'm wondering if anyone knows if that's actually been put into place already?

If not or even if so how did you go about registering your birth? I know these things can be ammended afterwards so I'm not fussed if dp has to wait to be on there but I'm more curious as to how it will work with Medicare, centrelink etc

Argh such a headache

I'm pretty sure it has been passed but that it hasnt been put into place yet. Not sure when it going to be. A girl I know has just gone interstate to deliver her bub so that both her and her DP could be on the birth certificate.

Ring up OCBA as they handle BDMs in SA or they are on Grenfell St.

Pinklilly I thought that was the case. We mightve done the same only we live rurally and I've had preterm labour issues. We're happy to just get it ammended whenever.
Thanks for the reply

Yeah, ring up and ask them. I'm not sure that you would be able to have it amended later? Good luck!

Hey

I have a friend who works at BDM and she told me that as of July 2012 we can register. At that stage she wasn't sure about backdating as she told me this info not long after the bill had been passed. I would say we would be able to though.

Awesome thanks. The psych at the fertility clinic In brisbane was under the impression we could add dps details at any stage ( just as you can add a biological father's) as she is the intended parent at conception. Atleast we know it's not too far off!
