Has anyone used Eczema Shield for their baby/toddler? If so, did you find it helped? What about side effects?

DD (17m) has been on it for 3 weeks (along with Evening Primrose Oil) as prescribed by a naturopath who specialises in kids and eczema. Since she started on it, her poos have been disgusting. Barely any formed stools at all, just a sloppy mess. Has anyone had this with the Eczema Shield? Probiotics are supposed to help the digestive system so I'm a bit surprised! If it is just a short term thing while her body gets used to it then that's fine, but I don't know if I can handle this as the new norm. Especially with MCNs!

It does seem to be helping her skin though. She has barely any eczema at the moment, but it does come and go anyway so a bit early to judge if it is 'fixed'.

Any feedback/stories appreciated!
Thanks :)

Yes I have been using Eczema Shield by Ethical Nutrients. It is a powdered probiotic that I mix into a bit of her food (but if she was younger like your baby I'd mix it into EBM.) It is a specific strain of probiotic that is beneficial for eczema.

I've been using it for about a month or 2 with my 4yo. I don't feel it has made a dramatic difference but the lady at the health food shop told me it can take quite some time to make an effect anyway (she suggested near the end of the bottle I should see a difference). He hasn't had any adverse effects and I don't really see how it could? I wonder of it's coincidence? You could probably email the company if you're concerned.

Hopefully it will help, I thought it was worth a try as we had tried everything else!

Disco86: Health food store or large pharmacy. Maybe check the Ethical Nutrients site for stockists. Yep, it's worth trying anything, isn't it! It's a lot of trial and error. Luckily my DD doesn't seem to get itchy with it. Are you avoiding soap and moisturising frequently? She's also taking EPO as essential fatty acids are very beneficial, and EPO is meant to be better than fish oil for eczema. Good luck!

CMF: Yeah I've just realised that in those same 3 weeks 3 teeth have cut through, plus 2 other molars are still coming down. So maybe it's that causing it. She hasn't had nappy rash though which she normally has with teething poo, that's why I didn't consider it. Duh. ;) Thanks heaps for your feedback.
