Hi all
Just wondering if anyone else's LO are taking Zertec and does it make them hyperactive?

I have posted the following in the sleep and settling section sorry for the repost but just wanted to share what's going on just incase it's the Zertec making him to hyper to sleep.

Hi all,

I'm really not sure of where to begin and I'll try not to get all scattery, I'm a bit sleep deprived and I'm not used to it.

My DS has always slept well of a night since he was born usually does a 9pm-9am night sleep waking twice when he was a newbie to once at around 6am for a feed, well that was until two weeks ago, he now has his arvo nap and then be awake till around 12am up again at 2, 4, 6am.(or there abouts, the other morning it was 1, 2, 4, 4:40, 6, 7:30)

Two weeks ago I had taken him for his 6mth old shots, they were delayed because it was thought that he had a cold as it turns out it is now thought he has allergies like hayfever
because his nose hasn't stopped running for over a Month now so the doc suggested to start him on Zertec at night.
I took DS back to the docs again today as he had been pulling on his ears and he's been given a clean bill of health, I told the doc his nose still runs badly but he said unfortunately we are doing all that we can and he is too young for further medication and allergy testing, the doc did say it looks like DS will get a tooth soon (at the moment he still has a gummy smile lol)
DS routine is usually like this:
Wake-9am
Nap- 10:30 or 11am for 1 1/2 - 2 hrs
Nap 2 - around 3:30 for 1 1/2 -2hrs
Then awake till around 8:30 when I start his night feed

He is still doing his day sleeps just fine. He appears somewhat hyperactive between 8-12am, he gets panda eyes etc.

Does anyone have any ideas??
Has anyone else's LO get hyperactive once having Zertec?

I might also post this in health issues too just incase there is someone else having the same issues and also administering Zertec.

I'd have a chat to your pharmacist as they are a little more up to date on the possible side effects that most GPs to be honest most 6mo start to get more active around then especially if they are learning new things ie crawling, standing, cruising furniture etc so it may be more of a developmental thing rather than the zyrtec.

I actually prefer zyrtec for allergies with my kids but I know for their issues they work where as you might need another one for your LO.

Sorry just realised this probably isn't helpful but my babbling on could be a bump for someone else who may have had issues.

Good luck either way.

Thanks Teamawesome, you were very helpful :) it may have been a wonder week/2weeks as he has just slept 9hrs straight yippee. He's been trying to crawl etc for a few weeks now and has just learnt to put his arms up when he wants to be picked up (so cute) etc
I'm glad it's pos not the Zertec and I will go and have a chat to the chemist today just incase, I'll let you know what they say :)
Thanks again :)
