Hi I was wondering what age most babies drop the 9pm feed. I feed my five month old 4 hourly and she has five feeds in the day, and she sleeps through from 7pm until 6am. I feed her at 9pm very quietly and I don't actually wake her for it. I just get her up and latch her on. I have a big week end comming up and it would make it a lot easier if she didn't need that particular feed. She is also on solids after her 10am feed. I thought about maybe giving her solids at dinner time, and that may help to drop the 9pm feed. Any suggestions?

Hiya MimiCj,
Yes I have a few ideas. Could youtry the tizzi Hall method of dropping the dream feEd?: You give it five minutes sooner each night untill you don't give it at all. Ie if you usually give it at 9 o'clock give baby the fee at 8:55 pm the first night and then 8:50 the next and so on. If Baby wakes fully during the night or too early in the morning for 3 nights after you have dropped it, resume the dream feed as they may not be ready to drop it. I think my lill one was about 8months when we stopped the dream feed but one night I forgot and he just slept straight thru. If it is just for a one off thing could you get someone else to feed your lil one formula at the usual time instead of breast?. Let me know how you go, your instincts/feelings will let you know what is the best thing to do. I think Tizzi recomends dropping the dream feed by nine months but each baby/situation is different hey?

Also I remeber I was kinda dreading doing it and then found it was very easy.
Good luck:hugs:

Hi Bella's bub, thank you for that. I will try that. Another reason that I would rather drop the feed is that I've had problems with mastitis and blocked ducts so I don't really want to risk not feeding her one night, just incase I get mastitis. I could express when I get home, but I will be out very late and don't want to have to worry about doing that at 3 in the morning. But I will try gradually moving the time forward and see how we go!
