View Full Version : Lactose intolerance question
I was just wondering how much lactose you needed to cut out of your or your childs diet. Was it just direct dairy or did you need to take out things that even contained a small amout of dairy also? My DS has been diagnosed with lactose intolerance and we are seeing the dr today. I was just curious as I have taken him off everything that contains lactose besides things with small quantities already in them and he still seems to be reacting. I have a feeling he might also have a problem with wheat but I guess we'll be discussing that today.
I'm sure everyone is different but was just curious about how much others can eat.

I think each child reacts differently.
My ds can handle things like milk, cheese, yogurt but can't have things like sour cream or cream.
My dd can't handle anything really. Even the smallest bit makes her cranky and irritable. There is milk hidden in lots of things.
Sometimes they lable it as milk solids, other times its called casein or whey.
It is in bread, biscuits, cereals, heaps of things actually. It makes it really hard when your shopping.
Best of luck with it.
Thanks for your response jasminesmum.
The doctor had mixed up the results and he isn't lactose intolerant. Now we have to have a blood test for coeliacs. I wish he was lactose intolerant now.:(
Thanks again.
