I know a lot of people are having the same problem with the children waking up during the night but I am still at my wits end. My twins have always woken up 1 a night sometime twice but now it's more like 3-4 times each and at separate times so it feels like I am up all night!
I don't know what has changed, they are turning 11 months old tomorrow. They use to have one night feed but they now refuse it and just cry, I have to rub them back to sleep.
Any suggestions on why this might be happening and what I can do about it? No sleep at the moment is not fun but I am suppose to be going back to work/ study and I just don't know how I am going to cope. They still have 2-3 naps a day anywhere from 1/2 hour to 2 hours.

Hi Twinboysmum
Sorry I have no advice, but I could have written this post. I have 8mth boy/girl twins, and I'm up every 2hrs until midnight, and then every hr after midnight to one or the other. I don't think I have had more than a 4hr block of sleep since they were born. Am hoping that others have some advice/suggestions for you!

I hate thinking "If only I had one then I might get more sleep" because even if I do get 7 hours sleep it is all broken up and you never feel like you have had any sleep at all - I think we probably don't ever get into the "deep" sleep.
Hoping anyone has any suggestions what so ever - I will try anything!!

Have you tried just sticking to the 2 day sleeps? I think at 11 months, they don't need that third sleep (on the days they have it). Perhaps they are waking as they have had enough sleep at night becaus of that 3rd sleep? Just a thought.
I'd definately be cutting out that 3rd sleep for sure, it may or may not make a difference at night, but you can only try!! Good luck!

Thanks for the advice, I should have been making note of if the days they have 3 naps the worse nights. It's a vicious cycle because they seem so tired some days because they have obviously also had a bad nights sleep, but it makes sense to not let them sleep all day or they wont want to sleep for long at night.
Do they sleep in close proximity to each other and could they be waking each other up?
I think I may have to start sleeping my twins in different rooms for their daytime naps as they now wake each other up.

They don't really wake each other up unless the other one is howling but believe it or not the last two nights they have slept for 7 hours straight!! :smiliedance: I cut out the last sleep and made sure they had a really good morning nap by being really quiet. Let's just hope it's not a phase though...
That is awesome news. I hope it keeps on, and that you catch up on the last year of missed sleep.:hugs:
I won't suggest anything, wait and see how it all pans out.:highfive:
Yep - cut out that 3rd day sleep. Also with my boys they slept in separate rooms from 3 months until they were 12 months. One was a great sleeper and the other not so great - so we waited until they were both good at putting themselves back to sleep before putting them in the same room. I had one in a cot in our room because we didn't have the space back then. It worked wonders - when they went back into the room together they were fine. I still have to separate them for their day naps otherwise they get up to mega mischief!!
