Hi Alybel

Thanks for starting a new thread, I wonder why they thought it was too large I've seen threads much larger than ours and they've kept them open. Seems odd to me.

Sounds like you are going to be a good cow too along with Harlequin and ATD.

It didn't even occur to me that this might happen with my first pregnancy mind you alot of things didn't occur to me back then lol. I am much better prepared this time round.

Hello ladies,

I wrapped about the new thread, each time I go into the site it always defaults to the Threaded Mode, which means I have to click into it, then select Linear Mode, then go to last page to see what I have missed out, hopefully this will make things a little easier (if anyone know how to make it stay in linear mode please let me know).

Anyway, back at work today (4 weeks of work to go), and I am feeling exhausted, I had a late night last night and some scary news – my SIL SIL had a baby last Tuesday, and they had to rush him hospital last night and he ended up in intensive care. They were at our place when they got to news, so they left their little boy with us and rushed to the hospital – it was so horrible (I have tears in my eyes just thinking about it). He had a heart rate of 220 – they have stabilised him, but they don’t know what is wrong, he is having test today – god I hope it is nothing to serious, but is sounds serious.

Anyway mental note to all, if in doubt when little ones are off colour – go get medical advise. They only thought something was wrong because he had not eaten all day, so they called the hospital – they said to bring him in for a check up, and before you know it he was in intensive care, apparently he was sleeping when the monitored him and measured his heart rate as 220.

Anyway got to go, have to get to a meeting.

Cheers

Hi Ladies!!!

Wow October, some of us might actually HAVE our babies by the end of this month….freaky:eek: (and also very welcome!!)
My DD turns one on Friday! I can’t believe how quick it has gone! She sometimes looks so ‘grown up’ I get all teary and she is learning all sorts of new and exciting (not to mention some what dangerous) things!

Breast pumps – I have an avent one which I love to death… DD didn’t feed at all for the first little while and after losing a lot more weight than normal (and on middies advice) we started expressing and pouring it down her throat IYKWIM... Also DF loved being able to bond with DD cos he felt a lil left out after me and my belly hogging her for 9 months:D !!!

We have just applied for some new rental houses cos ours is feeling squishy and we haven’t even added another person into it yet. Also our puppy needs some more room, Were hoping to just pay double rent (for this house and the next one) and give our selves a month and a bit to move and clean gradually that way bub can turn up when ever he likes an we don’t need to stress to much!

Leaky boobs - I am quite willing to get rid of mine! Very exciting the first time you realise there is actually somthing in there though!! I know I was fasinated while preggo with DD, played with them WAY to much just out of curiosity to see what would happen... (TMI??)

Sterilising bottles – We have a cheapo microwave steriliser that takes 120ml water and 8 minutes and it is great (although in the first few sleep deprived weeks with DD I used it without water and melted all the bottles in it….) Anyways I am still using it for her now, although I am not sure why, she licks the floor now and puts all sorts of gross things into her mouth:p …

For those finishing work soon – Whoo Hoo!!! I can’t imagine being at work at the moment! I have been soooo tired these past couple of weeks! Now you will have plenty of time to madly prepare for bubs (or relax like your ment to, but good luck with that it can get boring after a while!!)

Lenko – Oh I hope there bub is ok… How scary for them, I can’t imagine how horrible that must be for them

Sorry about the mammoth post, have been locked inside all day chatting to a bubby so felt like having some more adult contact with the world!!

Afternoon ladies:wave:
I can't get over the fact that I will be having a baby at the end of this month and the funny thing about about our birth dates (that's if bubs holds on till then) is that they will be opposites. Mine is 03/01 and bubs will be 30/10. (yes I am a sad case and really a sucker for numbers)

My braxton hicks have the strangest feelings. Sometimes if feels like the pressure becomes so intense throughout my whole body that I feel like I'm going to explode...............and the flushing heat that that comes with this is intense.
I can't wait till the fluid in my legs and ankles to go down as well as they are beginning to throb. God help me, I'm such a whinger................can't wait till I hit menopause (not)

Thanks for the sterilising advice Kirstlea and Babybungee...............I'm praying that I will be able to breast feed well enough so I wont have to do so much of the sterilising etc.
What is everyones view on dummies?..................and do we all use them from the start. I have 2 friends who refused to use them and thought they were a bad thing. I don't know what to think atm................but was given a very extravagent present of 2x christian dior bottles and dummy set and would not want to waste them iykwim.
Leko-Hope everything will be ok with your sister and her baby. How frightening for her.

Regarding dummies - I used them with my son from the day he was born, but i was worried that the hospital wouldn't like me using them, so i would only use it in the room when no one else was around... I soon realised that they wouldn't have minded and i should have just done what i wanted. I found that they are great for comfort, my son still uses one now, although only when going to sleep, should probably wean him from them soon :)

I always said no child of mine will have a dummy

I deliberately didn't get one but realised after about 4 weeks that it was my saviour. She stopped using it around 4mths and found her thumb so out went the dummy, but I will defintely have one for #2 if they want it.

The reason it was my saviour was because she wanted to suck for comfort and those first 4 weeks all she was doing was hammering my boobs and sucking in air and then crying for hours with bad wind. It took us that long to realise what the problem was:o Anyway we decided to try a dummy as I felt that all those potions they recommend were only making her worse and presto new baby, well almost.

So I would say have one incase and go with your instinct. As I've said before every parenting thought you had prior to 1st born seems to change once in the real world.

Hey Girls,

Hope everyone is well...except for all these leaking bb's:laughing: Fortunatley i only leak once bubs is here...but im glad your excittied!!

On the dummy thing..yep another no dummier here...well like Kristlea said that worked for about 2 weeks with DD1...they are sooo much easier!! But DD1 then found her thumb at 8 or so weeks & no more dummy:banghead: ...shes 4 & still sucking away...we dont mind a whole lot...though other ppl seem to mind more than we do:rolleyes: ...well after that both DD2 &3 had dummies the 1& 2 days at hospital! Noone said a thing...but they to suck their fingers & thumb! I will be trying again with this bub too...at hospital. I think maybe 1st time mums may get some feedback (good & bad) from the middy's but they tend to leave 'multi's' alone...just do whatever you feel like you need to do...they dont go home with your bub you do....

Well this week has started out a little better than last...our friends had a baby boy on Sunday (shes a September mummy) & we are visiting today after my 32 week u/s for growth & wellbeing...The girls arent sick (yay) & im able to sleep a little better...DH has packed the house for me & we have babysitters organized for the girls! Much easier... & on wednesday we find out whats wrong with my dad...fingers crossed all will go well....thanks for all your kind thoughts too

Well im off again...hopefully i'll be able to update you before i pack the computer...if not see you in a couple of weeks

I totally agree!

Hi girls, I finally found you all! Been away for the long weekend so I've been catching up on some cleaning while Gracie is having her morning nap.

Only 6 weeks to go - YIPEE!! Tonight DH and I are going to K-mart to buy some things for my hospital bag, just in case someone wants to come even earlier than my c/section date! I definetly have some new dummies bought and packed already, as when DD was born, she settled instantly when she was sucking on hers. Its a natural thing for them to suck, so why not?

With sterilising bottles, I bought an Avent one that plugs into the wall and takes 6 mins to sterilise everything - bottles, dummies etc etc. They retail for about $99, and are well worth it, and you dont have to have Avent bottles to use it. I packed it up for good when DD was 9 months, as she too licks carpet, touches everything and puts her hands in her mouth and I figured "whats the point!". I now just wash them in very hot water and scrub and rinse well.

Well I'd better jump in the shower while my girl is asleep - hope you are all well. Like Danielle said, some of us may actually have our bubs this month! Woo Hoo!

Ali :)

Hi all,

Must admit that I haven't really thought much about the great dummy debate. I got a few at my baby shower so I guess I'll take them to the hospital and see if bubba likes them.

The nursery is all finished now, bar hanging a few pictures and some canvas art. I was supposed to clean out the study so we could put all our stuff from the nursery cupboards in there but I just couldn't wait to get all that done so we now have a huge pile of **** on our spare bed in the study. Oh well, I'll just close the door and pretend it's not there for a few more weeks.

I've got everything that I need now for my hospital bag, I've just got to actually pack it now! Will they think I'm crazy if I turn up with a beach bag (labour bag) airline carry on (my bag), nappy bag (with babies stuff in it) and a beauty case (i hate risking shampoo with my clothes? I'm a nurse myself and I must admit that if someone came into my ward with all that, i'd probably think they intended staying ages and wouldn't be too impressed! I guess it's a bit different in maternity but any feedback would be great.

Anyways, hope all are well! Only 9 shifts to go b4 I finish work. Yay!:yelclap:

Only feedback I have to offer is don't forget that you have to carry it all back out again along with flowers, gifts and a new bubba. Also when you go into labour you may not remember every bag, might be a whole lot easier if you can get it all into one bag.

Goodluck

hi all

Well on the dummy subject, i too was against them with my first until all he wanted to do was suck. So at two weeks I gave him one but after a month or so found this thumb than his fingers and at about 6months decided he didnt want anything. I have packed one in my hospital bag just in case because they are a god sent!!!

I am going to have my 34week check tomorrow. I hope bubs is still in the right possie! I have to ask the OB again about my hand going to sleep. It is driving me crazy and I dont think it is normal. I have been trying to drink gallons of water but I end up spending the day on the toilet. I went to see a friend today in hospital who gave birth yesterday to a baby boy Lachlin Jack. He was so tiny you forget I think!!!

I will let you know how I go tomorrow.

Thanks for the info on the dummies everyone........I tend to agree with you all on the sucking thing as that's what the midwife was talking about at the parenting class. She said that all a baby cares about in the first few months is getting enough milk and will constantly want to suck, and she also mentioned that dentists prefer dummies over thumbs as a thumb can be much harder on the teeth. My sil was an extreme thumb sucker that gave her an infection that spread from her hand, all the way up to her shoulder and across part of her breast..........so if this runs in the family and from what everyone is saying I think I'll opt for the old dummy.

Got to see the bub again today as I'm at my weekly appointments now, he/she was asleep at the time all cosy and snuggled up with head still down........although not really important whether head is up or down for me. My blood pressure was higher than last week, but the ob said that it's normal to go up at this stage, although of course it will have to be monitored like everything else.
Baileyjaysmum- The tips of my fingers are also starting to go numb (only on my right hand though). I heard that this is quite a common thing in pregnancy and has something to do with the hormones. I think it's called carpal tunnel syndrome.

Hi Everyone

Hi, I'm alive, been reading your posts daily but haven't really had much to say, as everyone has been very quick to offer advice which I would have offered IYKWIM. I have been busily getting ready for the little boy to arrive with lots of cloth nappies, birth support people and ect ect.

I have been lucky enough to get in contact with a great student midwife is helping me out with the last stages of this pregnancy, bp checks and just to get some more plain english answers when I have concerns, sometimes my OB just assumes that I should know being the second time around.

44 days to go and I'm getting excited to meet my little boy but at the same time trying to drink in all this special time with my DD, the ultimate catch 22. I get to have another U/S on Monday to confirm all the CPC's have disappeared and that this little boy is not IUGR (Interuterine Growth Restricted). DH has still not been told whether he will be able to home for the birth so we are using our worst case scenario to plan at the moment which is sort of good, just wish that the ADF would sort this out its not as if we sprung it on them they have known since April. :banghead:

Any way I hope all is well with everyone and you are all in my thoughts as we approach some of the most joyous and demanding times of this year. Just as a side note it is only 81 Days till Christmas.

Hello all - I felt like a change so my username is now WizzFizz ... it was my nephews first birthday last weekend and my DH brought a stash of WizzFizz Sherbert home with us so we've been eating them all week!!

Leigh - fingers crossed that the CPC's have gone. I am having my ultrasound tomorrow for the same thing. They will also be assessing if the size of this bub, as DD was quite large (not that it matters now anyway cause I've decided on a c/s).

Off to K-mart again this morning, as when I purchased some pj's for my hospital bag, I got home and realised that the silly girl left the security thing on them. Also going to see if I can pick up a cheapish bag for all the baby bits and pieces to take to hospital.

Belly rubs to everyone,
Ali :)

Where is everyone?!

Ok well I had my ultrasound today and good news - the CPC's have all gone away! My little boy had his legs wide open with his manhood on display, so the sonographer kindly took a photo of his bits for us! His was measuring very large for dates, currently weighing in at 2960g. Thats what some babies are born at full term! Alot of his body measurments came in at between 35 - 38 weeks. So glad I opted for the c/s, as he looks like a biggen!

Hospi baby bag is all packed and ready, I just have to add some day clothes in mine. I hate not being ready!

Take care,

Ali :)

Hi Everyone

Wizzfizz - thats great news about your scan!

I had my 34week check on Wednesday and bubs is still head down ready to go. I asked the OB about my hand problem and he said it is normal, there is nothing you can do and it will go away after bubs is born. Great so I still have five weeks of interrupted sleep!!! While I was in town I brought two pairs of pjs from Myer which are really nice, one blue and one pink and I could probably get away with wearing around the house when I get home. My bag is packed just have to put in some day clothes.

I am feeling really exhausted today. Bailey didnt have a sleep at lunchtime so i didnt either. We have to go to swimming lessons at 3.30pm which I really dont feel like doing. My back is killing me today too. Just having a whinge!!! I think it will be mcdonalds for dinner tonight. Well hope everyone else is good, talk soon

Hi Everyone

Finally I have the nesting bug, I was starting to wonder if I would ever get it lol.

DD and I went shopping today and bought nappies, dummies, etc for our new bubs and I bought myself some PJ's and Pads, I even got some breast pads just incase. DD also decided we should buy some things for her so she found some My Little Pony undies which she is fansinated by and has now thrown out all her old undies:laughing: . She was due for some new ones anyway.

I dug out a small suitcase and loaded all of bubbies things into it and the few things I had bought but still have to work out the day clothes thing. Also DD and I are going to go through all her old clothes tomorrow to see what we can pack for bubs in the way of all in one suits and mittens.

We have also gone through all of DD's toys and thrown out the beraggled stuff that just can not be salvaged any longer and sorted out her draws so we must be nesting:rolleyes:

I think we might unpack the cot this weekend, we'll see how energetic we are when the time comes.

Oh by the way if anyone is interested, I have also packed a tennis ball. When you get to the pushing that bubby out stage and you find that someones hand is just not cutting it, a tennis ball comes in very handy. I nearly broke my mothers hand last time and found the tennis ball to be excellent, lucky for me my DH has strong hands and could cope.

The only things I have packed for the delivery suite is my tennis ball and the camera.

Well thats me for now, have a great weekend everyone and congrats to everyone having positive scans and checkups.

Hey hun congrats on finally getting the nesting bug hehe! It comes in very handy for getting everything organised thats for sure!!

Just a quick question, as i was chucking a few baby things in the hospy bag the other night, I realised i dont have any long sleeve or long leg lil bodysuits, The lil bodysuits i have just have the short sleeves and no legs. Being summer thats all I have been bought and have bought for bubby. Should I have some long sleeve stuff as well?? This summer baby stuff is just all to much for me LOL.

Thanx girls

Julzy

Harlequin
07-10-2006, 12:15 PM
I'd get a few long sleeve ones just in case. You tend to get the odd cold night/day in summer so it'd be better to be on the safe side. Unless you have some little long sleeved tops you can put over a short sleeved suit?

Kirstlea
07-10-2006, 01:34 PM
Julzy - I live in the tropics and yep we still put newborns into long sleeves and legs, along with hat and socks. Newborns need a week or so to adjust to their new climate and lose their heat very fast. Hence the hats and socks to try and keep the heat in.

It didn't make sense to me the first time until a nurse said to me well your baby has been inside a 36degree body for 9 months and its not that hot out here

Poor old dd always felt stone cold for those first few weeks even with all the clothes I put on her, now she is quite the opposite, a little hot bod that doesn't want to wear clothes.

Oh and probably for nearly 2 years she was always in one piece suits at night because she wouldn't have a blanket over her so it was the only way I could go to sleep and not worry about her being cold.

Maybe just get two sets of 0000 and two sets of 000. Its hard to know what size until baby is born but most will fit the 0000 for the first week or so. My dd was in the smallest size for nearly 2 months but she was a 6 1/2lb baby and is still small.

During the day we had dd in lighter clothes after about 2 weeks but still had a blanket around her.

Hope this helps

Kirsten

Harlequin - have you been touching up your belly photos, you look too perfect:laughing:

I still haven't taken any belly photos, must do something about that:rolleyes:

Well I have just loaded the second pile of baby clothes into the washing machine, one left to go. Its not all baby clothes theres cot sheets etc included but I am happy to say the only thing I need to buy is a hat or two. Not sure what happened to dd's.

As dd was a surprise, we only bought white, yellow and green clothes until we knew her gender and thankfully I kept it all and we can do the same again with this one.

Well I am off for a catnap with dd, gotta take them while I can, catch you all later.

Harlequin - Does you belly button hurt? It looks so sore! And not a stretchmark in sight. I'm SOOO jealous!

Leesha - My belly has gone hairy too. It did the same when I was pregnant with DD (and at that stage I didn't know if I was having a boy or girl) so I convinved myself I was having a boy cause his testosterone was making my belly hairy (hmmm... yeah great theory Ali!). I had a girl so proved that one wrong!

Been feeling really high one minute and low the next. Stupid hormones. All my baby furniture arrived at the shop last week, but they can't deliver it until 17 October! Damn it!!!

Belly rubs to everyone,

Hi Ladies, I disappeared there for a while, wrote a reply to the last thread and got bumped and I just couldn't be bothered writing it again. Also, DH is a 'puter hog and is always either on it when I want to be, or he hovers around waiting for me to finish, so I just give up. Tonight, however, he is cooking me dinner, so I get some peace :chef:

Sorry this is a bit old, but Bilbymum - I would love to say that I'm making my own nappies, but I'm not. I don't even have a sewing machine. I just know what I think I like about a whole lot of different clothies and would like the chance to put all the ideas into one that suits. Sewing machine will be on the Christmas wish list!

On the subject of nappies, we found an excellent site called Nurture Nappies that has put together a package of what they consider to be the best clothies for different uses like overnight, heavy duty, daytime, home use etc, as they say that no one fitted clothie is really going to suit every need. They aren't cheap, but the idea is that the package will grow with your little bundle and can even be used between two little ones of different ages. It isn't really a total solution, so what we're planning to do is supplement it with a nappy service of terry flats which we'll use for home daytime use for a few weeks, until we decide which fitted ones in the Nurture Nappies package we'd like to have a few more of.

We found out at our last scan (32wks) that the worm had turned and was ready to rocket in the right direction, but then we also found out at the following MW appointment that bub has been engaged since 32wks! My MW couldn't work out why I was only measuring 31wks when I should have been 34wks!! So it looks like we're going to have a serious cone head!

I finished up work on Friday (not a moment too soon). Next time round regardless of whether I'm working full time or part time, I'm going to finish at 30 wks. Its just been too hard and I've been so distracted from work by nesting instincts for the last few weeks, but now that I'm free, I'm just too tired to bother. Maybe after a few days of lounging around I'll get some energy back to sort through piles of junk, papers, bills, paint a bookcase and shop for all the stuff we still don't have (like decent pjs!).

In many ways I'm glad bub is engaged, because if it was any higher up I'd feel like I'm choking. Everyone says I look small for 35wks, but I can't help wondering if it is humanly possible for my belly to get any bigger??!!

Hi every one!!!

Just caught up with all the latest goss have been off planning baby showers and first birthdays!!

DD turned 1 on friday and we had her party on sunday which was great fun, nothing to serious just BBQ, cake balloons and FUN!!! we also held our bubby shower then to cos we had family coming from a few hours away and (and WA, were in VIC) so kinda hard to get every one together!!

DD and bubby got some really nice things and I ate to much and cleaned to much and feel totally drained after all the excitment (not to mention I keep getting all emotional, which was making it hard to cope with my baby girl being one already! )

Have an incredibly itchy belly which is driving me insane and havent yet been able to find anything to help it:banghead: Also been having ginormously huge BH which are bordering on painfull at times.... All was good at docs last monday so no stress...

Harliquin - I have the same belly button brusey thing too, but a lot of stretchmarks as well, your pic in your avater looks gorgeous though!! Very jelous!! DF did alot of computer pic editing stuff so I am thinking he might need to 'fix' my belly:D

Ali - hehehe I have a hairy belly and I too had it with both DD and this lil guy!! Glad your scan came up all good! Geee 2.9kg DD was only 2.8 kgwhen she was born....

would keep doing personals but I think I need to go for a snooz cos I am zonked and since DD is in bed.....

Lots of baby luck and happiness to every one of you lovely ladies!!

Thanks ladies!!
I've been moisturising my belly like mad trying to fend off any stretchmarks that are thinking of moving in. I'm guessing if they are gonna happen, they are gonna happen though.
On the other hand, my legs are a mass of spots from the eczema I had, so that makes up for my belly being clear of stretchmarks I guess :D

Leesha, I did have a bit of a snail trail happening but I waxed it off a while back hehee.
We also both have the rib/chest pain issue too, maybe we are psychically linked or something.

WizzFizz, nah it doesn't hurt, just looks really bruisey. I think its just pressure marks from having the ring in for too long. It was starting to hurt just before I removed it, but now that it's out it's fine. I just hope the marks go away eventually.

Beatrice - Congrats on your mum coming from France, you must be happy about that! I'm sure she's stoked too actually.

alybel - could you link me to the belly thread?

TMI Alert

Ok so some of you may remember from another thread that I had some fleshy coloured discharge a week or two ago that I rang the hospital about and was told that it was probably just my uterus cleaning itself and was normal so long as there was no blood.

Anyway, yesterday morning I had some painful braxtons happening so I got up. When I went to the loo I noticed that I had the same fleshy coloured discharge again. I wasn't too worried cos it doesnt smell disgusting or anything like that.
Later in the afternoon, however, I went to the loo to find that my pantyliner was absolutely full of the discharge, it was also a tiny bit darker, so more of a light brown in colour, or tan.

I was a little perturbed, but we had a bunch of male friends over so I just changed the pantyliner and went about my business. ;)

After they went home I went to the loo again and this time, there was only a normal amount of the discharge but it definitely had some dark pink in the mix this time. It was obvious there was blood mixed with the discharge, but it had gone dark pink because of the colour of the actual discharge itself.

So I rang the labour ward to ask a midwife if I should be worried. She seemed to think it was nothing and said it was normal leuchorrhea (sp?), but i've read that the normal stuff should be white? Ive also read other stuff that has said it can vary in colour in the last month or so of pregnancy. She just told me to make sure that bubs was still moving as that was the most important thing, and to look out for contractions or lots of blood in my discharge. She said she thought it was too early for my show as well.

This would be the third time I've gotten the discharge. It always happens after a bout of more painful braxtons in my lower pelvic region, but this was the first time with dk pink in the mix.

I was just wondering if any of you ladies have had coloured discharge or is yours all white like the books say it should be?

Im gonna talk to the ante gp about it, but I don't see him till the 20th so it will be a while. I just need some more reassurance. :o

I am a 1st time mum (so I don't have heaps of experience), however I am currently 33 preg - and I have only had clear discharge. I suggest that you give your ante gp a call today. I am sure it is ok, however better be safe than sorry. If you can't get hold of you ante GP, I would call the labour ward and ask to speak to another mid wife for another opinion - from what I have been told by other mums, mid wices advice can be quite varied, and it is best to get a couple of opinion.

Let us know how you go.

Cheers

Hi girls,

Danielle - Congrats on your little Ella turning one! *tear* - how quickly they grow up! I bet you were exhausted afterward! I have DD's party on Saturday week, so looking forward to it. We too are just having a casual BBQ, nothing too flash - DD wont remember anyways! I hear you ont hose strong BH - those contraction pain memories come flooding back, then I realise that I'm booked in for a c/s and wont have to experience that again (so my heart goes out to you hon!)

Harlequin - I have had alot of thick gluggy discharge - clear with white and a bit of pink in it aswell. It could be a bit of your plug come away - some women lose their plug and not give birth for weeks! Like Lenko said - if it really worrying you then get a second opinion. Also.. sorry definetly TMI - I read if you had sex with your partner and he ejaculated inside you then a few days after wards its common to get that gluggy thick discharge - you're cervix's way of saying "sorry - this uterus is in use!!"

Youngones - Glad your still here!

Tiggerbaby - How did your scan go??

Belly rubs to everyone - we'll have to start up a November birth announcement thread soon!!!

Hi Everyone

Well we are back from our scan and this baby boy is already my DD total birthweight. No CPC's :smiliedance: and bp perfect so, I am just playing the waiting game with DH as to when he will be able to come home from Sydney to be here for the birth as we might have to be induced to make sure he can be there. Yuck painful induction but better to have DH there than not my OB agrees that for everyone this will be the best option as she doesn't want this one to get too big for me to handle the birth.

Glad to hear that everyone is doing well and we are all fast approaching our due dates. Scary and beautiful is the way I think of it atm as I love the new baby even before I met him but scared about going back to not knowing which way is up from the complete exhaustion of parenting a newborn.

Hey guys do you like my new avater?Any belly rubs to all and I'll catch up on all your news soon!

Hi Girls
Have just come back from the hospital as i've been getting some pretty yucky cramps which started off this morning and haven't really subsided. They hooked me on to the monitor for 20 minutes and said that they were contractions but my cervix is still closed. When she checked internally the pain was awful..........I have no idea how I could push something like a baby out let alone have a finger inserted (sorry for the tmi).
So I am hoping and praying that the pain will subside after a good nights sleep as I would like to get to at least 38 weeks............but the cramping combined with the back pain is something I hope I won't have to deal with for 2 more weeks. At least I can take some paracetamol tablets for it as it is starting to drain me a bit.

Oh well such is life, glad to see everyone is doing well. I will try and keep you all posted...........ciao

Hey girls thanks for the responses to my tmi question. The discharge seems to have dissipated so i'll leave it till my next apptment and ask the gp. She's still moving about frequently so there's that.

Tiggerbaby - your av is lovely :yelclap:

bambikins - Sorry to hear about your cramping!! I hope to god I don't have to have an internal. Did she just insert one finger or what? I've always worried about that.
I hope the contractions subside and you make it to full term ok. *hugs*

Bambikins - I hope everything is ok! Yes we want your bubs in there for a little bit longer yet, so hopefully the panadol can keep your pains under wraps. Not long now hon! :hugs:

Tigger - Your Av is GORGEOUS! What a beautiful boy! What day do they think they might induce you? How exciting - I hope your DH can be there. And hooray for no CPC's - what a relief. My bubs have disappeared aswell so I'm very happy.

Harlequin - No worries about TMI - thats what we are here for!

Hi all

Bambikins - you must be having a bit of a freak attack - I know I would be. Hope this baby doesn't come too early for you and cooks for a little longer yet.

Harlequin - Lots of weird things happen during a pregnancy but it never hurts to ask, especially if it puts your mind at ease.

Tiggerbaby - wow what an awesome baby shot, those 3D scans are amazing.

For those of you who are interested I think (well for me anyway) once you have fully dilated you don't feel the internals. Either that or I had a very gentle midwife or the contractions made the internal seem like nothing. I could have just been lucky.

I have my 36 week appointment with the hospital on Thursday, should be interesting as I have been going share care with a private OB and the public system if that makes sense.

My OB is happy to wait for me to get to 39 weeks before we start worrying about bubs being breach, but the hospital may have other ideas.

Just curious but I don't remember having anymore scans after 18 weeks but some of you are having more scans now, is that because there could be a problem or is it standard to have another scan around now?

Catch you later

Kirsten

Well I'm still here:wave: .............the contractions/cramps settled somewhere in the early hours of the morning. Thanks girls for your well wishes, I'm hoping I wont have to feel thopse cramps for at least another 2 weeks. I saw the OB this morning as I am having weekly checks...........was told to rest up and don't exert myself as it can obviously bring on more contractions.
The cramps have settled for now but I feel like i've been kicked in my pelvis if that makes any sense. Apparently the midwife said that i'd definately know about labour if I was going through it as my pain would be 10 times what I was feeling. But for now my internal organs, lower back and abdomen feel somewhat bruised and battered after roughly 15 hours of this on and off cramping.
In terms of the painful internal check.........I think it's just me as the midwife was very gentle about it. I've been very swollen in my nether regions for a couple of months now.........I feel like i've closed over iykwim. Shop shut for now:laughing: Oh well if you can't laugh about it you cry instead.
Take care all...............ciao bella's

Hi girls,

Kirstlea - I dont think it routine to have another scan after the 18-20 week one unless there is a problem. I only had one at 34 weeks because of the cysts picked up at my 20 week scan, and also because DD was a big girl and born by emergency c/s, they wanted to see how big this boy was and whether it would be better to have a elective c/s or a VBAC. With my first pregnancy I didn't have any more scans after 18 weeks.

Leesha - Hooray bubs is in a good position. Good luck with your tests coming up!

Bambikins - Your middie is right - you'll definetley know when you're in labour! I know what you mean about the swollen fanny (!) - mine kinda went a bit of a purple colour (tmi - i know!) and felt "fat". However, that was when I last saw it at about 24 weeks!  DH suggested I either shave or wax my nether regions or I'm going to scare the surgeon on D-Day. Thanks honey.....

This thread has been a bit quiet latley - I suppose everyone is getting ready for their bubbas - not long now at all!

Take care, Ali

Hey there lovely ladies!!
It sure has been quiet in here!!

Well thismorning I experienced my first really really bad leg cramp! MY GOD!!!! It was in my calf and ohhhhh my it was sooo painfull!! My calf muscle is still aching now and im scared if I move my leg the wrong way or something it will happen again LOL. Oh gosh it was terrible! I remember having a couple with my son, so hopefully i only have that lot with this one and its not going to be a new thing haha.

7 days exactly till my next appointment when I will be given our date for our C-sec! Wohoooo How exciting is that! I cant wait!!

Well yeh I dont really have much to report, have been having a few off days of late, even vomitted the other morning!! JUst kinda getting over it a bit now, especially with my son pushing it to the very limits of late!!

Tiggerbaby: I love your new avatar!! Whata gorgous pic of your lil bubby!! Look at those chubby cheeks hahahaha, I would love another scan now, especially a 3d one, just for a lil peek at bubby hehe.

ATD-FAH : Oh your hospital tour sounds so exciting!! Bet that made it all seem so close!! How excellent!! I hadnt heard off the strep B swab thing until you posted that, now I have hear it like 5 times LOL. Does everyone usually have one or are you just spesh hehe?

bambikins: I am so relieved to hear contractions have settled for you! And :fingerscrossed: they stay away for another few weeks yet!! Just take it easy whenever you can!!

Kirstlea : I think the girls in this thread who have been having another U/S had something show up in there first that had to be re-checked now. Thankfully everyones bubs are perfect and whatever had showed up in there first scans have now gone!! :smiliedance:

I to would of loved another scan now hahahah, but not under those circumstances thats for sure!! We have some very brave girlies here!!

Anywho I best be off and do something constructive around the house...... Like what i dont know but im sure there is something I should be doing other then sitting here LOL.

I will check back in thisarvo, Hopefully I have some more people to talk to then LOL

Kirstlea - You must have gotten a really nice person doing your internal!! I had one once fully dialated and my god did it hurt, more than the contractions I was having!!:D (or prehaps I got a butcher? I haven't had any extra scans either, ah well will just have to wait to see the lil man for a while longer!!

Julzy - Yep I'm with you...would love to see bubs again but not because they needed to check if everything was all good I just wanna say hi!

Ali - If only I could see my 'bits' I had a go at tidying up the whole area with the help of a mirror but given DF's hysterical laughing I am guessing I didn't quite do a good job. he has promised to 'fix' it for me (ah men, you gotta love em, they always seem to come through with the goods in the end...after bagging you first of course!)

Bambikins - I have been having really sore cramoy type stuff on and off for the last week or so... I can't belive how sore my inards are feeling, kinda like what you described!! I find internals painfull, especially with all the other pain going on, prehaps some of us just feel it more??

Leesha - Ohhh your birthing suites sound lovely!! I found that even once I was in labour I cared about how everything looked!! Cos everything was comfy and homely it made the experience way more enjoyable, so you go on loving it, it makes a difference!! The lady who did all my bloods and strep B let me do the swab myself, somthing about second time round mothers prefer to do it them self, I was like ummm is it possible to do it wrong... I have no ida what I am doing??

Harliquin - Us sacnless women will just have to keep plugging on and waiting!! Grr it's so very hard to be paitent when waiting to meet your bubba!

Tiggerbaby - Your bubba is so beautifull! I would have loved to have one of those scans done but DF an I decided that cos we didn't get one with DD we wouldn't with this one so that later on she wouldn't feel left out!! HAHAH the things we do as parents!

Gee girls your not wrong........it's so quiet in here you can almost hear a pin drop. This can be like the ghost town thread at times.
Wizz fizz-I bit the bullet and tried to give myself a wax yesterday.........and it felt just lovely (not). I tried to wax as much hair as I could but I think I missed a lot of places aswell:laughing:
Julzy- My legs or at least my cankles have so much fluid in them they look and feel like those fat pork sausages iykwim. There's so much fluid in them that I think that the cramps get buffeted by it.
Babybungee-Yes, I hope I wont have to have another examination. Keeping my fingers and legs crossed.

Well I'm off to a breastfeeding seminar at the hospital today and yay it's free of charge for once (I have been so sick of handing the credit card over and signing cheques for doctors and hospitals).
37 weeks today..............3 weeks and 3 day to go (I hope)

Hahaha I dont know if you can tell or not... LOL But my god am I bored!! The last couple of weeks I wake up at an absolute loss as to what to do with my day, I would love to go visit friends and such but My son has had the worst attitude of late its an embaressment to take him anywhere to be honest. So I spend most my time at my parents house, and now even they are getting sick of us LOL. They went away last night just for the night and now i find my self sitting here awaiting a phone call from my mum to say they are home!! How very very VERY sad haha. I wish I had money or something so I could go blow it on baby stuff I dont need LOL. But then again, I dont want to face the nightmare of shopping with my son hahaha. Kids huh!!

Now I will stop babbling and get into the fun stuff LOL
Internals I HATED I had the worst experience with my first labour in every way imaginable and internals were right up there on my list of i never want to do that again lmao!! The first time i ended up near kicking the midwife coz i told her to stop and she wouldnt, i literally anded up grabbing her arm and pushing it out, rude cow. Im soooo glad there will be none of that **** this time!! It truely is terrible, you do survive and get over it lol, but its still not fun at the time! Tho friends of mine say I over exagerate coz its not that bad, i say blah to them LOL.

bambikins: Ohhh fluid!! I would hate to have that! Have been lucky with both my pregnancys and havent had to deal with it. My ankles did swell AFTER the birth of my son for a couple of days but that was it, So i definently feel for you there. :hugs:

Ok am off again, try and find something else to do around the house!

I always wondered about that. Can't problems arise after 20wks though? Can't something bad happen in there at 30wks and you would never know about it because they don't scan you later? Makes me worry.

I hope I don't have to have an internal. I think my vagina has closed over as well. Last time I had sex it was rather uncomfortable to say the least. We haven't been having sex much at all though. I lub my hubbie, he's so understanding :)
Seriously though, how much do they put up there when they examine you?! Im scared now :(

Hi Everyone

I won't do personals as I feel like Cr%p.

DD has been sick for over 10 weeks now with a post nasal drip causing her to cough every time she lays down and throw up after her sleep because of all the gunk going down the back of her throat. Cut a long story short it got out of control on the weekend and none of us has had more than a 3 hr sleep since Saturday and now I have a sore throat and feel yuck. Been to see two different doctors this week and finally last night dd slept 12 hrs :yelclap: but I still need to catch up I think.

Saw the doctor at the hospital today where I will be having bubs they are a bit concerned about bubs being breach and don't want to wait until 39 weeks, why am I not surprised:rolleyes: . So they have booked me in at 37 weeks (2 wks time) to check if bubs has turned and if it hasn't then they want to book me in to try and turn it. If that doesn't work then I guess it will be a C/S but I am trying to avoid that at all costs.

Thanks ladies for the scan info, I know I have lost the plot with pregnancy and need some reminders.

Yes I must have been lucky with my internal, judging by some of the comments from a few of you. To the first timers, don't be scared, easier said than done but just remember it is only a short time of your life that you have this whole experience, it will all be over in a matter of hours.

You know its funny, with my first pregnancy my dh couldn't do enough for me, even shaved my nether regions and legs without a thought, this time round I'm flat out getting him to rub my shoulders. Hang on hes only done that 3 times this time round:banghead: .

Men yep you gotta love them but sometimes I wonder where their thought processes are. I'm sure he thinks its easier this time because I am not working on site full time. Must have a chat with the man (mental note not to forget)

Well thats me for now, will check in again tomorrow. Oh my glucose test came back all clear.

hi everyone!!!

just popping in again, i'm now on maternity leave!!!! I'm so excited, so tomorrow is my first day home all by myself. My ds goes to childcare 1 day a week, and usually i'm working that day, but not tomorrow....

Hope you are all well.

Alybel - Ohh congrats on maternity leave!!! Must be a nice releif to be able to potter around (as much as possible;) ) instead of going to work! And especially to have a day to yourself! Sit back and relax I say!

Kirstlea - I hope you start to feel better soon! Your Poor DD! I am guessing you will be needing to catch up on sleep for say oh the next year or so:D Once you get a couple of cr@ppy sleeps thats it.... a reminder to tell your man to do more for you!! I have found that DF has been different this time around, not so much that he dosent care as much I just think he has forgotten that just cos I have done it once dosent mean it's any easier this time round!! (IYKWIM!!)

Harliquin - I was wondering the same thing, wouldn't we be better knowing if there was somthing wrong between 20 and 40 weeks?? I suppose cos most of the major stuff is all put together and stuff they don't see the point but hey, I like to see the lil one bouncing round in there! Kind of puts my mind at ease for a little while before I find somthing else to worry about! I have a feeling my internal was only like a finger or two but the pain was really intense at the time so thats probably why it hurt so much! On the plus side I am not stressing this time round, As Kristlea said it's over so quick an once you have your baby you so don't worry about anything that has happened (untill later when you re tell the story to all your family and friends that is!)

Julzy - You dag, i know how you feel somtimes I feel like I wander round the house making up things to do cos I am bored, I also find I count down to when DF is coming home so I can have another adult to speak to! I remember telling my ob to stop the internal but he didn't poor DF didn't know what to do, I don't normaly sook an that was the first time he had seen me actually crying in pain! I hate it when we go to the shops and DD throws a wobbley, dosen't happen often but I hate the way people stare like I have done somthing wrong! Honestly what can I do about it, she has her own mind and her own feelings!!!

bambikins - I went to a breastfeeding seminar before DD and thought it was great AND I didn't have to pay for uit either! I found it was really usefull and DF paid close attention and was always there to help me out when things got all a bit to much. I don't think before that he realised how hard it can be, kinda thought it was like 'yep whak the bub on the boob and off you go'... If only it was that easy!!!! I looked down to check out the boney bit of my ankle sometime last week and couldn't find it anywhere, my engagment ring is also getting tighter and leaving an indent when I have to take it off! I am sooo over fluid retention, with DD it all went away as soon as she was born so lets just hope wereboth that lucky this time round!!

Well ladies nothing more to report just more of the usuall complaints etc, has been so hot here and our house has no cooling so would look forward to needing to spend a few days in hospi having a bubba!!!

Kirstlea - Sorry to hear you are having a crappy time at the moment :hugs: Men are silly, you need to vomit right in front of them or have a mental breakdown for them to realise you really need their support and aren't just having a 'whinge'.
Vomit on his shoes or something, that'll get his attention. Then tell him it's cos your sore and tired and he won't bloody rub you!! Heh.
My man hates giving massages, it's his one failing hehe. I've kinda given up on getting them, seems there's always strings attached too, I can't just get a massage, I have to give something in return. Annoys the **** out of me.

babybungee - im glad im not the only one who worries about those things. Its such a long time to wait to see your bubs again, I guess I should have booked in for an US for myself and got one of those cool ones. Oh well. I think im just getting to that stage where im worried about giving birth.

Have you ladies done a birth plan? What am I supposed to write in it? I was thinking of copying one off a website and just altering it to suit me hehe.
Maybe I should put, "please don't put your fingers or hand up my poor little giney unless you absolutely must" on mine. :D

Heya Ladies

34 weeks today and I am feeling great! I have no idea what has come over me the last week or so but I am feeling on top of the world. :D Must be all those mad hormones swirling around.

I am still at work - I finish up in 4 weeks time (10th Nov) if I am still ok to work that is. I hope my plans follow through, but thats the beauty of all this pregnancy stuff, things don't always go to plan and there is always a surprise around the corner.

Like you Harlequin, I am going to start work on my birth plan in the next few days. I have seen a few examples, and I have also taken on board the midwifes advice to not set anything in stone. I have a good idea of what I want and what I don't want, so I guess I will just start there. My partner would love to pull the baby out (it is possible if everything is going ok) and hand the little bundle to me. He also wants to cut the cord. Not sure about pain relief; I would like to see how I cope with just gas and air, but I am not saying a definite no to anything else. I'd like to keep my mind open.

I also want to have a ganders at my placenta. We got to see one at the last childbirth education class that they had saved from a birth earlier that day. It was incredible and not gruesome at all. I would love to see the amazing little thing that helped my baby grow. :)

I got a front loader washing machine last weekend, so I have gone into a washing frenzy! This weekend my plan is to get all the new baby clothes washed and folded. I also need to get cracking on my hospital bag stuff too. My mum has mailed me some Marks & Spencer pyjamas and nighties, so I just need to get a dressing gown and slippers. I got the ginormous maternity mattress-pads and some breast pads too. I also splashed out and bought the Avent breastfeeding essentials bottle and pump kit.

Anyway, I will just finish tidying up my desk ready to get out of here! I am ready for the weekend! Have a great one too, ladies!

Cheerio!

Hey everyone,

Geez it soooo hot here today! At the moment we are sitting on about 35 degrees, although it feels alot hotter! I hope the temp drops a bit by next weekend, as its DD's 1st birthday, and I dont want my poor guests sweltering!

I went to my Ob yesterday - everything going well, bubs is 2/5ths engaged, and the Dr said that according to my 34 week scan results, at 40 weeks my bubby boy would be in excess of 4.5kg! Holy Cow! So glad that we decided on a c/s. He's certainly a big boy, the last week I have just popped right out, belly button about to explode and my skin is tearing to accomodate him! Owie...

It sounds like everyone is doing well. Glad to hear you are well Marteeny. A burst of energy is just what I need right now!

Going to munch on some ice cubes...

Take care, Ali :)

Hello all

Glad to hear that you are all well (or at least on the way to feeling well).

I had the most painful leg cramp this morning. Hubby was sleeping on the fold out couch in the lounge (where the aircon is - what a hot night) - I had to scream from him to come and stretch the cramp out - I think I really scared him. Anyway got me thinking - are labour pains as painful as leg cramps? Because if they are I need to order the drug now, there is no way I could go thru that type of pain for a couple of hours, the thought is just too scary.

Cheers

Lenko - Labour pains are definetly painful - and I guess you could say that they are similar to leg cramps in the way that they come on hard and strong, then slowly go away (which is a good feeling)... Just hang on a few more weeks and you'll experience them yourself!

Ladies you have me laughing my tail off - thank you I feel so much better already.

DD is improving considerably and I still have a sore throat but 2 decent nights sleep has made a huge difference.

Harlequin - I know what you mean about the strings attached, I wish we as women had that streak of if you want something I want something in return. We are just too giving. I have done up my birth plan, would you like me to pm it too you to give you some ideas?

Marteeny - you must be getting the nesting bug if you have energy, it pops in every now and again. I had it for about 2 hours today. lol.

Alybel - how cool getting some time to yourself, you won't know yourself. I have 2 more weeks of work left and hopefully dd will be well enough to go back to daycare for her 2 days a week and then I can have some me time albeit only for 2 weeks its better than nothing.

Wizzfizz - it is really bizarre that you are getting such high temperatures down south, dh and I were looking at that last night. We run our own refrigeration and air conditioning business up here in Cairns and we are lucky to get to 30 degrees at the moment and nights are down to 20. Very weird - my point sorry is that thankfully in a way the phone isn't ringing constantly all day with quote enquiries. We are busy enough as it is.

Lenko - the cramps are starting to set in on me too, a banana a day can help with this. Cramps are terrible as they leave you walking gingerly around incase they hit you again and your legs constantly hurt. Atleast with labour pains even though they hurt like hell they come and go with out after effects if that makes sense.

Babybungee - hope the fluid retention isn't too uncomfortable, it really doesn't help if you are suffering a heat wave down there. I was dreading the end of this pregnancy because its usually hot up here at this time but its been lovely and we still haven't turned on an air con which usually goes on in August and doesn't stop until March April.

Julzy - dd and I have major words when we go out in public lol. Thats what I say to her when she starts playing up. People must think I am mad but she seems to realise when I say that, that she has reached the end of my limits and not to push me any further. I used to be one of those people that thought can't you control your kids, how dumb was I. Now I am one of those people who smiles with understanding at the parent who is struggling to sort their child out. How true is it that they all have their own minds and opinions even at such an early age.

Bambikins - how did the breastfeeding clinic go? I'm wondering if I should jump in and do a refresher.

Well thats me for now - feeling fat and heavy but only 4 weeks to go.

Kirst

Sure has been quiet over the weekend in here!! You must all be off being busy bees!!

We have had a great weekend, enjoying our last few weekends just being a family of 3!! Scary to think how different things will be in 3 short weeks!!!!

Today we got our last layby out, the one with all bubs linen and also went and bought a bassinette! It was very exciting hehe, and also very final, I remember when I laybyed that stuff thinking wow next time I see all that stuff I will be nearly due and well here we are hahaha. How time flys huh!!
So next Thursday I have my next appointment at the ante natal clinic, this on with a doctor not a middie and this one to give us our exact date for our c-sec!! Im so excited!! i cant wait till Thursday as we also have an introduction night thingy for the preschool our son will be starting at next year. I cant wait to meet his teachers and such!

Anywho i am off to bed, just thought I would pop in and hopefully get the ball rolling and get some posts going hehehe.

Oh I have also been reading through the October ladies thread reading all about there bubbys arriving, I must admit its ben getting me rather exicted to think thats gonna be us so very very soon! I was wondering if we should start a birth announcment thread just incase we have a few early arrivals??

Anywho talk to you all soon!

Here I am up at midnight........again. I am such a night owl, late riser and boy do I know it will all go pear shaped very soon.
These braxton hicks contractions seem to change for me all the time. One minute their in my back, sometimes I will feel intense nausea for a minute and other times I feel like I'm going to pop..........I just can't keep track of what's going on iykwim and I sure as hell wouldn't know how to time anything.
Had a great weekend at palm beach at a friends cottage where you have to go by boat to get there. Went for my first swim since being pregnant in a beautiful lagoon and had some photos taken of me trying to float. And I'm not going to put them on here because I look like a mother seal in a way too small t-shirt and dh's old football shorts............not a good look.

Harlequin-What is sex again?
AlybelCongratulations on your maternity leave........it's about time you got to relax and take it easy.
WizzFizz4.5kg:eek: ouch, but very lucky for you that your booked in for a c-sect.
MarteenySounds like you are blessed with favourable hormones. I haven't any atm. DH has taken to calling me a crazy cockatoo:laughing:
Lenko-Yes, I am all for the drugs aswell, those false labour cramps I had didn't feel too false to me.
Kristlea-Yeah the breast feeding class was good with lots of tips on the perfect nipple attachment and reading other vital signs within your body and with baby.........but like anything I think it will all come down to actual practice rather than the theory of it all, which can be a lot to take in.
JulzyWhere abouts are you having your c-sect done again?

Harlequin
16-10-2006, 11:24 AM
bambikins - I'm glad you said that, I've been beginning to feel like a horrible wife, neglecting my 'wifely duties'.
I don't think my husband understands how sore my giney is after all the irritations ive had down there since becoming pregnant. Also the actual lack of sex doesnt help much in that regard as well... I feel so unelasticy and unlubed down there its horrid.
For the most part my hubbie has been wonderful, not pestering me or anything like that, but when he does get toey and want some and I say no he tends to get upset with me and I don't know how to explain it to him. Its a right pain in the bum.

Kirstlea - Thanks for the pm!

My braxton hicks are getting stronger and more frequent lately. They've stayed in the same area though, usually an ache in my back accompanied by lower stomach pain. Pretty much how I remember my period pain only more intense. It sorta feels like when you are getting a bout of diarrhea, you get a bit sweaty, nauseous and the aches start in the lower belly and back.
Real fun ;)

Harlequin-Everytime I see the word giney it cracks me up. But yes, I can empathise with you.........even if the partners are understanding, one can still feel pressure to perform. I think when I was getting the examination done, DH saw how white my face went and he got a bit frightened.......I really don't think he would be able to handle me having a giney birth though lol.( the c-sect will be bad enough)

So some of you have come out of hiding huh!!
I went right back to the beginning of the thread last night, We sure have lost some people along the way. Hopefully they and there lil bubs are all ok.
Nothing much to report here, It is such a yuk day here today has been raining non stop!! And it is actually pretty cold! No wonder im getting a sore throat with a weather change like that!!
Sounds like you girls are all doing well, with the exeption of braxton hicks, Must admit i have never had one , but doesnt sound like im missing out on much haha.

bambikins: I too am a night owl, It changed for a lil while after I had my son, But then he slipped into my routine and started to sleep in late in the morning, I was truely blessed LOL. I still stay up late and sleep in, tho I kno it will definently be coming to an end this time.
I am having my c-sec here in my home town of Port Macquarie, dunno if you have heard of it. Its about 4 and a bit hours north of Sydney.

Anywho im off to organise some lunch for me and the lil man!
Hope you are all having a good day!

Hi everyone!.

Glad to see you have all re-surfaced! I was begginning to wonder where everyone went! Mumsiemel - where are you? Haven't heard from you in a while!

I will start a November births thread as I think we are getting pretty damn close to having some babies! It will just be an 'Announcement thread', and all the congratulations can be posted in this "due in Nov Part 2' thread to keep things uncluttered and clean. What do you all think?

I've been feeling really "off" lately. I think bubs may come earlier than I have planned. I told him is has to have some courtesy and wait until after DD's first birthday (which is this weekend!!), but anytime after that is FINE! So over being preggers now!

Take care everyone,

Love ALi :)

Hi Everyone

Yes I am still here! I wish that this baby would show its head soon though! Four and a bit weeks to go and I cant wait. DH, Bailey and I have had a headcold all weekend and have felt terrible. But as most men do my DH was dying and couldnt do anything so I was left to look after Bailey and myself. I am feeling alot better today though. My darling son has been a terror and is into climbing at the moment. I am off to buy some more gates tomorrow to gate off the kitchen as he is climbing onto the bench. The joys of motherhood! I think he is sensing something is happening.

That new thread is great WizzFizz. When I saw it I thought who is the lucky one who has already given birth!!!!

Not much else to report. I have my 36week check on Wednesday.

Baileyjaysmum: Hey hun, good to hear from you! Sorry to hear you guys have been unwell!! Nothing worse then being unwell when your this stage of pregnancy!! Haha I remember those overly adventurous days with my son, and definently dont miss them haha, Hopefully this lil princess isnt as adventurous as her big brother was when she gets to that fun age haha.
Goodluck for your check on Wednsday, be sure to pop in and let us know how you go!!

I hope you are all feeling well.

Julzy - sorry to hear that you are not feeling well, but believe me you made me feel better, I just jumped on this morning to have a whine about morning sickness (I just vomited up breakfast), and I was thinking to myself is this normal, who still has morning sickness at 34 weeks. So I feel for you.

Anyway I am off to the Obs for my 34 weeks check up and then to work - not sure how I am going to get thru the day, but at least the weather looks like it is going to be nice.

Haey every one I have been MIA over the last few days!!:D

We just got approved on our new rental house:yelclap: 4 bedrooms, huge back yard, play area for the littleies, all renovated and shiney new!! (coming from our crammped unit with no AC or heating, no backyard no where for the bubs to play its like paradise!!) So anyways will be off moving over the next few days so if I am not around I am probably PACKING and UNPAKING stuff....
I have a feeling once everything is unpacked and we are settled into our new house bubs will come, I think I just need to feel totally comfy before he makes his entrance!

Ali - Ohhh yay I am glad all your things showed up!! I had the baby's room all done but now that I have to move it's all in boxes (gee I hope he dosen't show up in the next few days, I have no hope of sorting it all out!!

Julzy - I llove to have a squizz at what every one else is doing for there bubs!! wioul love to see some pics!

Lenko - get better hun, it's awfull feeling crappy!

to every one I have missed (and there are a lot of you sorry), Hope you are well and not to busy!!!

Babybungee – that great news, I hope the moving goes well for you. Be careful with heavy boxes

Julzy – I think that is a great idea re the thread for the baby rooms. And the obs appointment went well – I was in there for the whole 3 min, blood pressure fine, and the babies head is still down. I did then have to go and get a virginal swap for some bacteria thing (can’t remember what it is for) apparently 30% have this and the baby and you need antibiotics after the birth is you have it. That was a lovely experience – I suppose I better get use to it – only six weeks and a whole team of people will be prodding down that end.

15 more min and then I can go home - yippee

:smiliedance: Yay...........it's great to see all the posts, things are really starting to heat up now. I feel like I have that old 80's song, "final countdown" stuck in my head, because that is what it is now.

I'm starting to get the phone calls now, when, why if and how? Everyone knows I'm having a c-sect but we are keeping the date a surprise apart from family and my best friend and you girls of course (how strange is that and I haven't even met you all). Anyway people want to know everything and all I keep on saying is DH will send out a text when it happens.

Mum, Dad and I had lunch together today which was lovely but also emotional in a way for me as it will be the last time that just the 3 of us were all going to be together having a meal (as I'm an only child)..........as you can tell iv'e been veeery sentimental as of late. My dad thinks i'm nuts.........but that's men for you.

Mygirls-Fantastic news about your bubs and your dad, you must be so relieved.
ATD FAHGod you look nice and fit for 35 weeks, lucky thing!
Alybel-Well it looks like it might be a contest between you and me as to who has their baby first. Maybe we should all place some bets lol.

Hi everyone

Sorry I've been out of action for a few days - I have also been sick as a dog. With dd being really sick last week it took its toll on me and now I have her flu/cold or whatever it is. I feel so god dam lousy and to top it off when I drove down the range to Cairns today my ears popped and I couldn't unpop them because of all the fluid in my ears.

My poor OB must think I'm mad  I had an appointment with him today and all I did was whinge about this aweful cold and how miserable I felt.

OK enough whinging from me. I had a discussion with my OB about turning this baby and he is really against it. Sometimes its easy and other times the baby can get caught up and then they have to do an emergency C/S. I'm thinking nope I don't want that to happen so will have to do some quick research on the odds of success on manually turning a baby.

Other than that everything else is looking great.

You will notice I have finally taken a photo of my belly for you all:o I don't think it is a pretty picture with all the stretch marks but seeing as you all have been sporting enough I thought I had better get on to it.

Glad to hear everyones good news, Dads ok, Moving house, Baby gear arriving, etc etc.

I would write personals but it is time for me to count some zzzz's, gotta shake this cold.

Take care everyone talk to you soon

 everyone.

Good to hear all is doing well.

Well 3 and a half weeks to go and I'm so ready now.
It looks like there's a few of us all due pretty soon now so good luck to everyone.

I'm a woman of leisure now since I finished work on Friday last week. And gosh it feels good too. And weird at the same time. Being at home waiting waiting.

We had our check up yesterday. Pretty straight forward. Except Dr is a bit concerned that bubs is quite small. He's measuring smaller than he should be by about 2 weeks. We have another check up next week so depending on that we may have to have a scan just to double check his measurements. But bubs is very active and healthy otherwise. So that's fine. Small is good, but it'll still hurt coming out

Lenko.....we had that swab yesterday too. It's for Strep B which is a bacteria that all women carry in their vag. But some have it more than others. They like to treat it if they have to during labour just to stop bubs getting it in their mouths on their way out. Yucky to think about though hey. Oh well that's the other part of being a woman I suppose.

Well I hope you all have a great day. I'm off to catch up with Kerry Anne on TV.

Hi ladies  I can't do personals today cause my sciatic nerve is playing up so im just gonna type quickly.

The hubbie and I took Griever to be groomed yesterday. While we waited we went to the shopping centre over the road for a browse around and to get something to eat. I'd had bad braxtons the day before and was getting that odd fleshy/lt brown discharge again. Anyhoo, the whole time we were walking around the store I was in quite a lot of pain in my lower belly, just above the pube line, also in my very much lower back and hip region.
I just tried to ignore it as best I could, it subsided on the way home, about a couple of hours later.

That night (last night) I woke up at about 2:30am with horrible pains in the lower belly area again, a little sharper this time, but still dull achey yuk... if that makes any sense. I ended up getting up and going to the loo to do a number two. I think walking to the toilet and sitting up for a bit made the pain go away and so I went back to sleep.

What I want to know is... if our braxton hicks (i assume thats what it was) gets really bad toward the end, are we still gonna recognise contractions when we get them? I was seriously worried for a moment there! Heh.

I have an ante gp visit on friday so Im going to speak with him about the discharge and pains as well.
Are any of you getting really horrible pains lately? She's still moving about so im not too worried about her in that regard. But yeah.

I had another question but it's totally slipped my preggo mind!

Anyhoo, on another note, I got the sleep bra I ordered on ebay in the mail yesterday. It's awesome. Its one piece and its made from material that is like thick hose (you know those thick stockings you'd sometimes wear as a kid? sorta like that).
Id show you a photo of me wearing it but you can see my dinnerplate dk brown nipples through the thing! :D
The brand is Carriwell and it ended up costing me roughly $30 to get shipped to australia from the UK. I thought id let you know if you are looking for a sleeping bra thats comfy.
The ebay seller also has a store online:
http://www.bump2babe.co.uk/scripts/prodList.asp?idCategory=21#

The Comfort Feeding/Sleeping Maternity Bra, is the one im talking about.

I plan on grabbing a Seamless Drop Cup Maternity Bra
http://www.bump2babe.co.uk/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=190

a Seamless Maternity Bra
http://www.bump2babe.co.uk/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=210

and some of these Hospital Panty (pack of 5)
http://www.bump2babe.co.uk/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=212

It's gonna cost me probably around $80-$90 for all three to be posted out to australia, but thats cool. If they are anything like this sleep bra, they should be real comfy. The Seamless maternity bra looks good with the wide band too, i plan on wearing it when I dont need to breastfeed.

Keep in mind the postage to australia comes out totally wrong on the website. So if you plan on buying anything you may have to email the owner and speak with them about the correct postage price. :)

Anyhoo I thought id show you since I haven't seen them anywhere else before and this sleep bra is really comfy.
By the way, I bought a medium because of my build, but my FF/G cups fit in it nicely because the material is so stretchy.

Im gonna go have a lie down on the couch. Hope you are all doing well!
:hugs:

i know an australian place that designs and makes bras almost exactly the same as those... called New Beginnings

Harlequin
18-10-2006, 06:36 PM
I just checked out the New Beginnings site. :)

The sleep bra is about $4 more (which is ok cos shipping would be cheaper)

The maternity bra is about $15 more for some reason :(

The drop cup bra is about $14 more :(

I guess they must import them from overseas so they charge more. It'd work out cheaper for me to get them all from the uk store, which is unfortunate. At least the uk shipping is pretty prompt though. :)

I wonder why they are 'new beginnings' here and Carriwell over there, they are exactly the same product. Weird.
I might browse around for the specific products and see if I can't find them in any other stores under different brand names.

Ooh I just found another site that does free shipping anywhere for orders over $30us! And they are actually cheaper than the UK store O_o

Well so far I recommend the sleep bra, cos its soft and comfy.

I've just put an order in for the drop bra and the seamless maternity. It works out to be $50aud!! Noice.

Lol I almost bought a drop bra in small size, that would have been disastrous!

I just wish these guys had more carriwell products, like the hospital panties and the sleep bras so I could get another.

Hi girls

Well I had my 36week check today and battled the brisbane traffic to get to my appointment on time. I got there and found out that my OB is on holidays for two weeks. Apparently his wife told him to have holidays. I was a bit annoyed!! The locum I saw was really nice and it turns out he delivered my brother many moons ago. So I have to hold onto this baby until the 30th which should be ok I hope. Everything is fine with bubs. The OB got me to feel where the head was and he pushed really hard and boy did it hurt. I felt where the shoulders and those feet that are kicking me were to which was was good. I am slowly getting over my cold and the ob said that it usually takes 7-10 days to get over a cold so hopefully by the weekend I should be back to normal. Baby hugs to everyone. Talk soon

Baileyjaysmum - I hope you are 100% better by the weekend. :)

Leesha - I forgot to say thanks for the pm!

Just a quick heads up, don't go ordering anything from that momshells site I posted just yet. I got an email thanking me for my payment but asking what I ordered because apparently my order didn't go through the system properly.

When I checked the site to get the exact names of the bras the prices had been raised somewhat significantly. I mentioned this in my return email to them... im a little sus. ;)

I might edit the post for now so noone buys anything untill I find out what the go is.

Good to hear that everyone is going well. I dont envy you at all Danielle - moving is the last thing I would want to do right now! But Hooray for your new house, sounds very nice!

Harlequin - Dont you worry - you'll definetly know when your in true labour, not just having Braxton Hicks.

Baileyjaymum - I hope you are feeling better soon - there is nothing worse than a cold, and especially at this late stage of pregnancy when you feel run down enough as it is!

Alybel - I was just thinking.. if everyones babies come when they are supposed to (yeah right!) it looksl like you might have our first November baby! Exciting! Only 2 weeks to go! Are you all ready?

Bambino - Lucky girl finishing work! Enjoy these last few weeks as much as you can!

Well I am off to the Ob's today, almost my last visit! I have to have the strep B swab done aswell today. I was wondering earlier if I would still have to do it or not cause I'm having a c/section, obviously I do. Anyhoo, I'm off to give me grandmother a call, we speak every morning and she'll wonder why I haven't phoned so she talk to DD (her great-grand daughter!).

Take care,

Cheers for the reply wizzfizz :)

Last night I had more stomach pains. They get to the point where I can't lie there because its so painful. I have to get up and move around or go sit on the loo to get rid of the pain.

I've had braxtons on and off throughout the pregnancy (at least I assume thats what they were), but they were not like the pain ive been getting this week. They were more like bad period pains, these are like those horrible period pains you only get once every year or so, but more intense. If that makes sense. hehe.

When you get contractions, does your entire uterus go or is the pain sometimes located in a specific area of the uterus?
Will my entire uterus contract when i get contractions?

alybel, I still haven't gotten a reply email from that store. *rolls her eyes*. Ill have to email them tonight if I haven't heard back and tell them I will be cancelling the payment if I don't hear from them.

Hey All,

Wow sounds like the time is getting close for some of you! Alybel...maybe 2 weeks!! How time flys...

Harlequin - I hope your sciatic nerve is better today! LOL wishful thinking i know!

Kristlea & Baileyjaysmum - Hope your feeling better now:hugs: ...nothing worse than being sick when your pregnant!

Dannielle - Well done on the move to a bigger house! Its such a lot to do now but its worth it!

Ali - Hope you have a good ob appointment..hmm nearly your last one!! Does that mean a end of October bub then?:detective: LOL...

Well all is well here...thanks for your support girls during an uncertain time...im feeling a lot more relaxed now my dad is going to be ok & bubs is doing fine & we are settled into our new home *phew*...i've nearly completed the baby's washing & im just getting my nappy bag mended so it can be washed too! Hi Girls
Well i'm 38 weeks today, and have 10 days to go...........i'm getting pretty nervy now as I can't really back out at this stage, can I. lol.
Saw the OB this morning and am measuring at 40 weeks which is good to hear or not...........who knows. Everything is going right on track for now and had to sign those papers in regard to the c-sect. We went through what was going to happen step by step and how they will do all the weighing of baby etc right near my head so I can see it all which is nice to know that they wont just up and take the baby straight away.

I have almost hit the 30kg weight gain which the OB thinks that at least 7kg of fluid are in my legs alone. My right hand has been somewhat numb for about a week now which also has something to do with my swelling, so :fingerscrossed: it will all go away once baby is here as I can only wear 1 pair of shoes (seriously) the top of my foot has become a pin cushion iykwim.

Harlequin-Those period like cramps sound just like what I had. And I still get them in the morning now. My ob said as long as they don't increase with intensity and if they settle after a while then it's not true labour. If it gets too crampy they said to take some panadol.
Candyn-Welcome to the November thread:wave:

 Hi everyone

Well I am slowly getting better, only wish I could stop coughing its so hard on the stomach muscles, whats left of them anyway.

Baileyjaysmum - glad to hear you are on the mend too, its aweful feeling like this so close to the end, especially when we know we need all the strength we can get for the big jobby.

Harlequin - a close friend of mine also experienced the same kind of pain with her braxton hicks at the end of her pregnancy, she also found that when she went to the loo (sorry tmi for no: 2's) that it relieved the pains. Now I don't want you to freak but she also said that when she did go into labour it was just like braxton hicks for her but alot more painful but she definetly knew when she was in labour. Does walking around help at all?

Well only a few more days of work left - infact Saturday is my last onsite job :smiliedance: and with any luck I will have completed all my jobs that I do at home. What a relief if I can get it all done. Then I get to be just a mum for 3 weeks, oh how nice that will be. Unless this baby comes early.

Well time for me to get dd settled for bed, talk to you all later.

Kirsten

Hey girls, great to see so much action over the last couple of days! Gives me plenty to catch up on hehe.

I guess I will start with my news firstly tho. I had my 36 week appointment at the clinic today. Bubs is doing well and right on target for size and such. Today was also the day i got my date for my c-sec and signed all the consent forms and such. It was all very exciting!!
So my date for my c-sec is November 9. Which means this time in 3 Thursday's I will be in hospital with my new baby girl! I am so excited!! I hope it goes quick haha. I must admit I was a lil dissapointed, I knew they were gonna leave it as close to my EDD as possible, But thats only like 5 days early , I was hoping to get to meet her a lil earlier then that, But they insist on leaving it as late as possible so I just have to be patient hehe. So thats my big news 20 days to go!!! :smiliedance:

Baileyjaysmum: Oh no , I cant believe your OB has gone away so close to your delivery time!! I would be soooo mad!! Hopefully he is back in time to deliver your precious bundle!! Hopefully you also see the end of that nasty cold by the weekend hun! Definently nothing worse then being ill at this stage!!

Harlequin: That site sure does sound a lil suspect hay! I hope you hear from them soon, and it is lucky you thought about it before you forwarded them payment!! Close call! Let us know when they reply!
Oh the pain subject, I hope yours ease soon!! They sound pretty nasty! I havent had any BH so I dont really kno how they are supposed to feel, tho I have read they are supposed to intensify towards the end, so hopefully thats all it is. But yeh as the other girls have said, dont worry you WILL know when the real thing begins hehe

WizzFizz: Hay hun! Hope your appointment went well today! I only have 2 visits left now!! Ohhh getting so exciting huh!! I hope you didnt have to have that swab thing done, I didnt, actually I hadnt even heard of it till you girls started talking about it the other week LOL.

mygirls: Hey hun, Im glad to hear you have been able to relax a lil now , must just make you feel so much better! Sounds like you are nearly all organised and im happy to hear you are nearly all settled in your new house! Names can be tricky huh!! We have been lucky this time, girls names are much easier then boys and we had the name picked at about 21 weeks LOL. But I will leave that for a surprise till her big arrival hehe Goodluck to you guys on your name debate tho and I hope you can decide on one soon ehhe

candyn: Hey and welcome to our thread! Its great to have you here with us!! Im sorry to hear your bub isnt being too co-operative, tho you still have a few weeks to go so there is still time for some action ehhee fingers crossed anyway huh! I too am on the had enough list LOL, But I think its more so from impatience then anything else haha. Altho I to am extremly over my heartburn and cant wait till i dont have to carry rennie around with me 24/7 haha.

bambikins: Ohhh 10 days to go how exciting is that!! I to am pretty nervy about the whole c-sec thing but hey we will be holding our babies soon and thats wat keeps me happy hehe. Sorry to hear about the fluid and such! It must be so uncomfy for you!! Big hugs!!

Kirstlea: Glad to hear your getting better, Wish it would speed uo for you tho you poor thing! YAY on the nearly finished work subject! Thats just awesome! And the rest will definently do you the world of good!!

Anywho I think Im caught up on everything, If i did miss someone please forgive me!!!!

Heya ladies

I had my 37wk antegp appointment this morning. I got to do the lovely strep swab on myself in the toilet. Its funny cause the instructions say to insert the swab 2cm into the giney then 1cm into the bottom. I have NO idea how far I inserted it into either... it's not like I can see over my watermelon belly! Hopefully it was approximately 2cm and 1cm though.

I asked the doctor about the pains and discharge, he said its my show, so there you go. I thought you got your show when you were close to going into labour, though, like anything up to two weeks away? The first time I had that discharge was several weeks ago.
Though it definitely got pinker this week, so perhaps it just means shes gonna be on time.

I forgot to ask what I was measuring today. Oh well.

On Tuesday, the same day I was having that real bad bout of braxtons, we picked up most of our baby stuff from Baby on a Budget. Just have to go back next tuesday and grab the cot.

Julzy - Your csection date is the same as my due date!
Unfortunately I already had sent payment via paypal to that site. If I haven't heard back from them tonight ill email them and ask what the deal with the changing prices is. Thankfully because paypal comes out of my CC, I can reverse the charge if they screw me around.

candyn - Hi there, welcome to the thread

bambikins & kirstlea & mygirls - thanks for the info on the braxtons you put my mind at ease. I figured contractions would be pretty horrid in comparison. Be nice if these bad braxtons kinda prepare me for the real thing though.

Hope everyone is well and isn't in too much discomfort. I find walking to be rather painful in my lower pelvic area lately. It's kinda awful if im on my feet for too long. You get that though.

Stay well!

just popping in, but it's been really quiet here, i wonder if you are all in hospital having a baby??

Harlequin

I'm not!

Maybe I scared everyone off with my swab talk.

I got some emails back from that Momshells store. They said they hadn't changed the prices, that the VAT must be showing up in the prices for me for some reason, but the price I paid was correct.

So, if you go to the momshells store, make the prices US dollars, add a drop cup carriwell to your cart then go to the 3rd stage of checkout, it should come up with $24.36us, which is a bargain.
The maternity carriwell should come up as $13.61us, which is crazy too. They also do free shipping for orders over $30us.
They said they may alter that one day though because overseas shipping is expensive for them.

Ill let you know if my bras come safely. Those prices really are a steal considering that drop bra alone costs about $50 australian in most stores and im paying $50aud for both bras.

Alybel - I WISH I was in hospital having this baby - talk about being completley 'over' this pregnancy!!! My doc was away last appt so I didn't have the swab done ... maybe he forgot we decided to go c/s rather than VBAC??

Today is my little girl Grace's first birthday! We had a party yesterday, and so I am cleaning up the aftermath today. Grace was so buggered by the time everyone left - she had birthday cake, marshmellows, jats, grapes, strawberries .. everyone just wanted to feed her and I had to say "ENOUGH!!" as she was pretty wired for the rest of the afternoon - sugar overload! It was a good day, but being 2 weeks off giving birth I was certainly very very tired by the end of the day. I have come done with a cold today, so perhaps I'm a little run down...

mygirls - Sorry to declare that I'm not having another October baby ... I'm booked in for my c/sec sometime in the first 2 weeks of Nov...

Harlequin - When I had my swab with DD, I only had to put it in my giney .. didn't know you stuck one up your butt aswell?? I don't understand why they get us very pregnant women to perform these tests on ourselves when its very hard to reach down there around a bump.. latley whenever I have to do my antenatal urine tests and pee on the stick, I pee all over my fingers too   !!

Anyways, better get back to cleaning, my floors are absolutley horrid and need mopping!

Yeah the swab I did had to go in the giney first then the bottom. It was the same swab. You wouldnt wanna screw up and do your bottom first!

Hey ladies,

Just thought I'd pop in to say I'm still around  . He is measuring at the right size thank god. He is still up high in the ribs which is really uncomfortable. Have really bad lower back pains today which are horrible. Blar its ok.

I find it hard to sleep at night at the moment so i tend to stay up as long as posible and sleep during the day.

Its all getting a bit close now. I still have a couple of things to do but they are small and will keep me sane over the next 2 to 3 weeks. Worked out the only thing I am really fearful of is being stuck at home and having to call my sister to help. That would be a nightmare. Thankfully my hubbie works about 15 mins away.

Everyone is sounding so excited to meet their up coming bundle of joy, not too long now :fingerscrossed: .

How are people going with the baby names??

Take it easy Kirrilie

Hi all

Hope everyone had a good weekend. Not much to report here. I have had
