I'm STRESSED!!!! It's about 4ks away (that's via road.. NOT as the crow flies).... Hubby says I'm stressing needlessly. We asked the policeman who had closed Kirkwood Road if there was anything to worry about and he assured me that they would door knock any houses in danger, but the wind was SO strong this morning... What if they just pick up like that again out of nowhere?

Hubby also keeps reminding me that they are moving in the opposite direction, but It doesn't make me feel much better.

Would you be stressed? Or would you go to bed? I'm so tired, but all my stressing has upset my tummy, and I don't feel safe enough to sleep. Am I being overboard?

You have every right to be worried. I would be too.

Fires are so incredibly unpredictable - if you don't feel safe I would say get out until it's all put out.....

:iagree: The only choices are leave or defend. If you aren't planning to defend your property then leave as soon you don't feel safe (if it's still safe enough to do so). Earlier is better than later.

As a child I evacuated twice in my life for bushfires. Our house survived both times. One of those times evacuation proved to be unnecessary as the fire didn't reach our suburb, but since there was only one road out it was best to leave before everyone else got scared and clogged it up.
Another year when we didn't end up evacuating we still had the car packed and ready to leave for about 2 months because there were so many fires around.
