Hi
I am 33 weeks preg with #2 and since yesterday I have had the worst sore throat ever :( I also have a little bit of a cough, but thats not worrying me. I have no other symptoms, which is so frustrating coz DH doesn't think there is anything wrong with me (he's the kind of person who stubs his toe and sulks for a week  )

So, does anyone have any ideas on how to cure this sore throat? Preferably nothing too complicated. I have been gargling salt water since yesterday morning, but it just doesn't seem to be helping.

Now this may sound strange, but believe me it works and does not involve anything that could be harmful during pregnancy.
Just before bed rub some tiger balm (yes, tiger balm !) around your neck (near the glands and where the soreness is) area, then heat a wheatbag and lay down with the wheatbag over where the tiger balm is and your sore throat will be gone or much better by the morning - guaranteed! (try it again the next night if symptoms still persist!!). I rarely get past the first night with a sore throat now
The other thing you can do is take Vitamin C and odourless garlic 3 x a day, this also helps!
Hope you feel better soon!

hey cwsmum...

firstly sorry to hear that you aren't feeling well ... :( (huggles!!!!) and we ALL know that men aren't the best sympathisers... (and yet tend to make the WORST patients!!!) - even when you ARE pregnant!!!!!!

There must be something going around - I felt under-the-weather the first weekend of the hols... but it stopped at being a sore throat... and didn't develop any further.. and I've been fine since...

Is DS ok??? he didn't pick up anything from daycare???

When I wasn't 100% I followed all the boring instructions my mum gave me.. ( :o embarassing) socks on (from 5pm) - lots of hot drinks - and lots of orange fruit...

I also did the heat pack thing (without the tiger balm.. I must remember that though!! ) - and the throat went away within 2 days...

Dont be afraid to give DH a kick up the bum if you need an early night/ a bit of TLC!!!!!!!! :D Sometimes it is nice to let the pregnancy hormones take over!!!!!!

Gosh! I was just about to put up a post of the same sore throat prob.

I am only 7 weeks preg though. But this sore throat seems to take over more in the night when I am just about to get to bed!

Tried lozenges still not working. Maybe I'll try to gargle the salt water, though I must say I am not good at gargling.

But anything is worth going!
