crawling backwards????

My little boy is 9 months old and he will crawl backwards but not forwards:confused: :confused: :confused:

Is this a bit unusual or have other bubbas done this too?????

My DD1 did the same thing for a while, but soon worked it out. They look so funny going backwards, don't worry he will get there eventually.

my bubba is doin the same thing , She been doin it a while thou hasnt worked out the forward part unless she lunges forward way.

:laughing: :laughing: Oh yes I remember when Summer started crawling backwards. They soon get the hang of it though ;) but how cute do they look going backwards!

Both my kids did this for a few weeks before they went forward. I think it is because their arms are stronger than their legs and they have not worked out how to do anything but push (and therefore head in the opposite direction to where they want to go...:D)

He'll get it very soon.

My little girl crawled backwards for about 3 weeks before her legs were strong enough to move in the opposite direction. It is quite normal from what I've heard. It is quite handy now as she is able to crawl towards the toys that she is after (although she is now learning to climb over anything that gets in her way!!)

yeah, all my kids went backwards first too with crawling, and also with riding a bike

It is soo normal.

My oldest used to WALK BACKWARDS. Absolutley hysterical to watch. Now she walks the right way.

Claire did this too, and from what I have heard, it is very, very common!

Word of warning - once they start moving backwards, it doesn't take them very long to start moving forwards!! ;)

My DS did this- except that it was on his back, pushing off with his feet with the back of his head on the carpet! He'd be hooning along and all we could smell was hair burning on the carpet from the friction!! :eek: It sounds like your son is just about there- soon you won't be able to keep up!

my ds went side ways and backwards and round in circles well before he mastered crawling forward lol

They tend to do everything backwards as it is easier to do ... They eventually go forwards.... As one of the other mums mentioned my sons gets around on his back by pushing his feet on the floor and pushing off... I am sure he will have no hair soon...:no:

Apparently I only crawled backwards, never forwards. I turned out ok.

both my daughters crawled bakwards most kids start off that way but the younest started crawling with on knee and one foot lol and she did that til she was walking but dnt worry bout it they soon figer it out
