HI, it has been awhile since i have been on here but i need help.
My DS who is now 22 months still isn't walking. We had a physio r/v yesterday and she said he is at the 12 month development stage. So i have been ringing everyone today for appointments, but can't see a paediatrician until janurary, speechy until march and OT until some time next year. what can i do to help my DS until we get the r/v's needed?
I think my son has a form of autism and maybe even developmental delay.
So i ask of you lovely people who are going through it, how can i help him?:confused::confused:

Hi Padys mom, I am sorry to hear of the rough time you and your family are going through. Unfortunately I cannot offer advice but I saw your post and just wanted to wish you well and I hope answers come quickly for you. Good Luck and stay strong:hugs:

See your GP straight away. Tell them about your waiting times and ask them to make a few calls to get you in earlier. It seems like a priority matter to me. It is worth a try!

Ring each specialist and ask to be put on the cancellation waiting list. Tell them you would be happy to be called last minute to come in for an appointment.

Have Pm'd you...not sure if it helps at all, just my post became very long winded. Hope you son gets the help he needs, I have been doing the physio/OT/Pead and speech specialist thing for 7 years now.

Just very glad you have seen physio as this is the first step.
Hug for what you are going through

Dear Padys Mom

My suggestion is to see your GP and get them to speak directly with the paediatrician they usually refer to. Most paediatricians will accommodate direct verbal GP requests by squeezing you in if it is considered urgent by the GP. In addition your GP may be able to access allied health services (speech pathology, OT, etc) for your child under the medicare scheme (ie you can get in earlier with the private allied health practitioners). I have included the link below to the medicare information.

I hope that helps a bit.
