Hi there. Just wondering if you could help me with a question about yoghurt.
My 7 month old DD loves yoghurt. In fact she won't really eat food unless it is mixed with yoghurt. I give her full fat natural yoghurt. She refuses food unless I mix it with yoghurt. How often can she eat yoghurt? She is lactose intolerant.
Thanks in advance.

Dear Happy2bmum Most people with lactose intolerance can still tolerate a small amount of lactose in their diet equivalent to a glass of milk. Yoghurt is often better tolerated than milk as is relatively low in lactose due to the friendly bacteria found in probiotic yoghourt (like acidophilus, bifidobacterium and casei) which use lactose as their source of energy. Your baby can have 1-2 serves yoghourt per day but try to get out of the habit of mixing it with all her food. She needs to become familiar with a wide range of flavours, tastes and textures rather than just everything having the taste and consistency of yoghurt.Jalna yoghourts are all low in lactose (less than 2g lactose per 100g yoghourt) Also consider the use of a lactose reduced milk/formula if she is not tolerating normal varieties
