Hi Karen,

My dd is 8 months and started solids at 6 months, at the moment she has 5 x 6 ounce bottles a day and three solid meals. She is also still waking up once or twice in the night for more milk where she will drink an extra 250ml. She is drinking lots of milk but how much food should I be giving her during the day, I feel like she is drinking too much formula and would like to know how much food at each meal to possibly make her feel more full. Any advice would be most appreciated. TIA.

Dear Sumk24 Every baby is different but this is just a guide for meal size: Eg 1 slice toast or 1/2 cup cereal and milk at breakfast. For lunch & dinner 1-2 tablesp of each food item on plate, with 2-3 food choices on plate (eg meat and 2 vegetable) or fruit and yoghurt etc If your baby is not eating well at meals, try offering nourishing snacks between meals - fruit, bread plain or as toast, crackers, cereal, yoghurt, cheese, sultanas etc. A baby's stomach capacity is quite small, so it's best to offer small nourishing meal/snacks more frequently rather than expecting them to eat too much at once. Always offer food before fluids and try to limit bottles to 4-5/day and increase the volume in each to 240-250ml
