just curious as to how long after your bubbas started cruising they took the plunge and stood alone, then walked alone?? do they happen soon together or can they just cruise n crawl for months without thinkking of walking on their own???
TIA ladies:thumbsup:

Sam has been cruising for over a month now. He will walk with a pusher toy or holding hands. He will even walk holding one hand. When he lets go now he is staying upright for a little bit longer before he sits himself down. Not sure how much longer it will take him...

Tara has been cruising for at least a month (I think more like a couple of months though) and now can walk holding onto just one hand. She's pretty stable - just doesn't seem that interested in walking by herself since she's a speedy crawler and gets at everything she wants anyway!
I've given up wondering when she'll actually walk - could be today - could be a couple of months away!

DS was cruising for about 2 months before he started to walk. He is also taking a while to build up to walking all the time. Initially it was a couple of steps between furniture to walking a few more at a time. Now he will walk longer distances but runs at the end so he can grab something! He's a fast crawler so still crawls somewhere if he wants to get there quickly, rather than getting to his feet and walking.
I know what you mean, we kept thinking "He's going to walk any day now" for about 6 weeks...!
My DS started cruising well at 9 months but didn't take that next step of walking alone until almost 14 months. He's always been an extremely cautious child.
I think it (like every other developmental stage) seriously depends on lots of variables .. including confidence and definately motivation ..
Jack cruised for a month or so .. and would happily walk with two fingers to hold .. one day I just held a favourite item (remote) JUUUst out of reach .. and he took a step ... and grabbed it .. it is less than three weeks after that .. and he is now walking happily from mum to dad and back (11 steps is the current record) - and from a solid item to parent if called ..
he still prefers to crawl (still faster to crawl .. speed is EVERYTHING) - but he gets very excited.. and often applaudes himself when he walks .. lol

DD started cruising at about 6mths, at 8 1/2 mths took her first steps alone, but just yesterday(9mths, 1 week and 1day!) started walking more on her own - about a metre is the furtherest so far - but i'm sure my next week that will be beaten!
All bubs are different - a lady from work had her first start walking alone at 8mths, then the 2nd was 7mths!!!
