DD (10mths) calls me muma, DS usually calls me mum unless he wants something, then he smiles sweetly and calls me mummy :D oh, and sometimes he tells me he is being a bubba like his sister and he'll crawl after me calling me muma

"Mummy" if she's feeling sad, or needs something. Otherwise she often just calls me by my name.
I actually don't like that all that much - I figure there's about a million Emmas in the world but I'm the only one that's her mum. So that's more special. I haven't started actively trying to indoctrinate her yet tho'

Very slightly offtopic - I hope I get called by my name (once he gets to, you know, words....)
I'm a person, not a relationship.

I get a Mummmmmm when shes annoyed.
A mummmmy when she is trying to suck up!
And a mama any other time :p
I get called Mummy but DS1 has started calling me Mum now because he's older.:gloomy: My babys growing up.
I think it is in a way a relationship. A parent and child realtionship. One with unconditional love.

Me too - and if they are talking to someone about me they use my first name - its funny!
Very slightly offtopic - I hope I get called by my name (once he gets to, you know, words....)
I'm a person, not a relationship.
But... Dad/Father is the relationship to him...? it's like a title of sorts.
I'm not bagging your choice, in fact I was going to ask who's kids call them by their first name... but yeah.
ALSO I love your signature. Makes me giggle :)
In other news, cobey calls me "AAAAAAAAH" I hope he'll call me Mumma. I'm not feeling like a mummy and Mum's too grown up for my baby :p

The way I think of it is... Imagine being called 'wife', instead of your name, forever.

DH and I have been known to call each other "Spouse Girl" and "Spouse Boy" (not ALL the time, I'll admit)
But we're wierd like that...
The way I think of it is... Imagine being called 'wife', instead of your name, forever.
haha very frequently Chris gets called "Husband" :p
The kids that I work with at school call me Mrs Mensforth. That's my title to them, it's not my name, and I don't get called it by EVERYONE forever, just by the kids... much like you wouldn't get called DAD by everyone forever, just by your kids :)
I'm not trying to change your mind at all, Noodle, I know how strong willed and minded you are :) I'm just explaining myself I guess.

Heh, it's only my personal quirk.
My name is who I am. My title is what I am.
It'd just feel vaguely demeaning if someone discarded the former for the latter.
(and yes, we call each other all *kinds* of stuff - but not consistently :p )

Oliver calls me Mummummummummum....LOL :) So I chose Mum, cause for the MOST part we say Mum and Dad to him....the rest of the time we say Mummy and Daddy....

My Mom......I didnt relise untill DH pointed it out "my" mom.
Lucky...she use to call me Lita(what my then 3yo brother called me) and we all spent alot of time together so after a while I was "Lita".....instead of my mom, she has only started saying my mom again in the last few months.
She'd call me a range of weird discriptive words.....loser once or twice....LOL
Funny as she refues to talk most of the time:rolleyes: and we were worried she had speech problems.
Sorry off topic.
