Want to utilise the cars and trucks in your childs toy collection in a new way? Here are a couple of ideas...

Take a look at the variety of wheels and treads of the cars, trucks, bikes etc. and collect a few with differing treads.

Firstly, using Play Dough, roll or flatten out the Play Dough. Then simply use the vehicles to wheel over the Play Dough to create patterns. Talk about the patterns, discussing which are wide, thin retc. Play a game of 'Guess which vehicle made those tracks'!! Repeat the process with as many vehicles as your child wishes, as many times as you or they like!

Secondly, using poster paint, roll the toy vehicles in the paint. Then roll onto poster paper to create tracks, lines or patterns. Discuss rolling the vehicles in straight lines, curvy lines, making an arch and so on.

These activities can be done either independently or shared with you, depending on the play stage your child is at. As long as you child can hold and maneuver the vehicles, they can participate at some level.

Hopefully they'll enjoy seeing a new and different use for their zooming vehicles!:)
