My almost 5 mth old weighs 4.8kg and was 3.1 kg when he was born.
He is breastfed, but eats every 3 hours on the dot and isnt unsettled.
my doctor suggested putting him on formular but i really dont want to stop breast feeding. my older son who is 4 now was formular fed and would always get sick but my baby hasnt been sick at all. I have an appointment with the ped but he cant see me till mid oct. I dont know what to do.

My baby is intrested in solids but some websites say dont give solids till 6mths and some say its fine at 4mths im soo confused.

how can i get my baby putting on weight without taking him off breast milk??

please help

HI Coopersmummy, Breast feeding is recommended for at least 6 months . It is very difficult for me to give you advice without more details regarding your baby. Is he absorbing all his nutrients ? Is your breast milk providing all that he needs? Under normal circumstances breast milk should provide the energy and nutritional needs for babies up to 6 months of age but this is not always the case. So you could start introducing solids now as he is nearly 5 months and see if he tolerates them and see what happens to his weight. The best food to start with is an iron fortified cereal..just a small spoon and see how he goes. Good to check in with your doctor or maternal health nurse until you see the pediatrician.
