Just wondering when you started to get heartburn during pregnancy - very early or later on?

I had it pretty early with my second.
I drank heaps of peppermint tea....it did the trick for me

I can't remember with my first 2 pregnancies as they were so long ago, but with my 3rd it started at 18wks. I was going through a 96 box of rennie tablets a week after that.

With my first I didn't get it until towards the end, but with DS2 I got it much earlier, before 20 weeks. I always kept the rennies handy too, and avoid eating certain things that seemed to set it off.

I started getting it around 18 weeks - it's horrid. I've been using "tums" to help but it doesn't do a lot. I find a big glass of milk in the morning helps too

Try Rennie tablets. Tums, Mylanta and all the other heartburn things did absolutely nothing for me. Rennie was the only thing that worked.

I didnt have it at all with my other pregnancies, but with this one it started at about 30 weeks (I had no idea what it was, and I thought I was dying!!!! ) I have lived off Quickeze ever since. Get the chewy ones though because the hard ones are too chalky......

I started to have reflux / heartburn at 20 weeks .

I'm now on Gaviscon Peppermint night ( A bit hard to suck on Rennie at night ! ) and Rennie tablets during the day .

I'm still trying to find out what can trigger it , and it looks like eating chocolate in the evening does not help !! plus spicy food of course .

Drinking a glass of milk or eating yogurt helps as well .

Good luck .

My experience of heartburn started at 25 weeks, I'm now 36 weeks so heartburn has become a regular occurence. I even got heartburn with the glucose drink I had to have for my gestational diabetes test!

My doctor did prescribe something for me and I've tried tonnes of herbal/natural remedies (small meals, bland food, herbal teas) but I've found Andrew's Tums are great (and they taste nice too). I've always got a pack in my handbag and boxes and boxes lying around at home. The other great thing is Coles sell them so they're easy to find.
