I reckon you should be right Jem. I think you can actually apply to Centerlink for loans can't you?
I got a personal loan years ago for my first car ($5000). I wasn't on any Centerlink payments, but my wage was very pitiful and I had no credit history. Centrelink payments are probably more reliable than the wage I was on (I was a student working casually), so I think you'd probably get it.
At the time of my loan (which is about nine years ago, so it's a bit out-of-date) Commonwealth Bank was the most flexible.

mmm..........not too sure Jem. We have only had loans through the bank & for such a small amount This might not be an option but is there any family/friends you could ask for a lend???? I know you might not want to ask but if you really need it & its an option think about it. sorry I'm probably not much help.

They have just had ads all over tv saying centrelink clients welcome.. wouldnt know anything else about them though.
Im thinking about enquiring for one so that I can get a new car lol.

Also - if you get family assistance - you can get a loan through them - even though you have already had your $500 loan from centrelink.
(they take the repayments back out of your family payment rather than your parenting payment).. I think the amount is around $200 or so.. ring them and check what you are entitled to.

Bank loan usually being at $5000.00
With a bad credit rating it would be best to sick to you main bank ( the one your centerlink payment goes into) I really think that you will have to go to a place like western union or something like that, the interest is crazy and can somethime cost you soooo much more... Is there any other way?

I work for a bank so if you wanna know more feel free to ask... I do all the loans??:banghead: :banghead:

I also work in the finance industry dealing with all the lenders, for such a small amount - family members or friends might be the best way to go.

If you want a personal loan and you have bad credit - it can be quite difficult to get with any lender. Much easier if you have security - eg house or car

But not impossible to get. If you want any more info feel free to e-mail me.

P.S - Hope it works out for ya
