Hi there,
I have 2 quick questions, I have started to use formular during the day for just one of my 14wk old DD's feed, though I started to use Karicare as I heard that it tasted the most like breast milk and my daughter has never shown any probs to anything that I have eaten. Though now my CHN has said that I shouldn't use it and should use NAN brand as it is easier to digest and will decrease her chance of developing hayfever (not for everybaby but since both my husband and i suffer from mild doses of it occasionally). This has kind of scared and confused  me, and I was just wondering if anyone else has found or been told this??? plus my DD doesn't seem to like the Nan brand ??? though drunk the KAricare fine. :banghead:

Also does anyone know if you can Formular feed during the day and BF first thing in the morn and last feed at night? and if so has anyone done this? because I would quite like to do it this way.
I am so new to this FF thing I have no idea about things like this. Thankyou.

there are formulas for bubs at risk of having allergies like Nan HA. i am not sure if karicare has one. but they say it on the tin :)
i dont know how they are different though.

My three kkids were all FF Karicare from birth and none of them have allergies, hayfever or anything. I say, if DD likes it and drinks it-let her hve it. I wouldnt be tooworried about it.

I agree
Both my kids had Karicare from 6 weeks and 2 weeks old and even though there is a strong family history of hay fever neither of them have ever suffered from it.

Thanks so much. I think that I just needed reassurence that I hadn't done something totally wrong by giving her the wrong sort of formular.
Thanks for your replys.

if there is a family history of allergies babies are more likely to have allergies.
my DS has lots of allergies and he comes from a family with lots of allergies lol BF for the 1st 6 months is said to reduce the risk of allergies though :)

Not sure about the allergy risks but we started my son on NAN HA when we started comp feeding him with formula and it made him really badly constipated. So we switched to the Karicare and have never had a problem. Not sure if everyoe would have this experience with NAN HA, but it certainly didn't seem too easy for my son to digest!

Be really careful, both my children have severe dairy allergy stimulated by a couple of comp formula feeds in the NICU and later at about 4 months when I was sick with mastitis (they were otherwise breastfed). There is absolutely NO history of allergies in my or dh's family, so just beware, it is a real risk. If I had my time over again and had to do a couple of comp feeds I would fork out the money for hypoallergic formula like neocate or at the worst, hydrogenised formula like pepti jnr.
