Lol I just had a vision of the bub kinda pecking at the waters bag like a little chicken poking its way out!
I've no idea, I would suspect hormonal changes?
No that is actually a really good question.I have no idea and now im intrigued, lol.

They don't actually know what naturally causes the waters to break. There is a theory that it is the babies hormones that cause the waters to break... but I think position has a lot to do with it

My daughter was born with the waters still intact, it was amazing to see.
Sorry, that wasn't any help was it!
Good question, I am sure someone will be along shortly to enlighten us!
Good question. With my first my waters broke at the start of labour. With my second they broke when I started to push so right at the end. Obviously nothing to do with hormones right? I guess its a combination of the babies weight and pressure on the cervix pushing down and the pressure of the contractions?
Yes i wouldnt think it would be hormones as none of mine have broken naturally ive had to have mine broken right at the end of my 3 labours.Im so intrigued, lol.
It must be hormone related.. I had an induction (2ml prostin gel only) and contractions were at 3-4 mins apart a few hours later, then my waters broke on their own while laying in bed. Felt a pop which was just like a low kick and then the gush was unmistakable. Quite surprised it happened on it's own as I was scheduled to have them ruptured the next morning..

I don't know why I think this, but I feel like I have heard that the membranes start to thin in late pregnancy, because they are actually quite thick and strong.
OP - I see by your ticker that you are close to your due date, are you still in one piece?

Interesting topic. Shine brite I hope it happens for you soon.
I think they just get so thin and then the baby's leg or hand goes through it. Then pop and gush....
