View Full Version : Return of periods
When are they likely to return? Do they generally return after you stop breastfeeding or can they return while you are still breastfeeding? I give birth to DS approx. 6 months ago and interested to know when they might return.
I breastfed my 3 bubs for all different time periods but for some reason with all of them got my peiod back when they were just under 9mths old.

Mine returned 4 months post partum, and i exclusively breastfed including night feeds til 6 plus months. I am still breastfeeding, and got pregnant when bub was just over 12 months (and still night feeding).
There is so much variety in what happens in our crazy amazing bodies.

Everyone's different, some only last 6-8wks after birth before they get theirs back, even when fully breastfeeding, some don't get theirs back untill months after they stop breastfeeding, others bang on when they finnish feeding,
with DS2 mine came back a month after stopping breastfeeds, with my DD they came back 5mths after birth, and i'm pretty sure it was because she was such a infrequent feeder that caused it to come back, she was being fussy and wasn't taking much off me at the time, she started feeding better again and I didn't get it back till a mth after stopping with her too
I have friends that have not had a period between babies, and others that have gone between 1.5 - 2 years after birthd without theirs due to extended breast feeding

I didnt BF my DD and still had my period four weeks post birth.
I'm just lucky I guess!
Thanks for all of your replies! I'll just keep waiting, not that im missing them too much :)

i got mine back at 6 months (still BF) but there are women in mymothers group at 9 months that still don't have it back. One thing we did notice was that the first one for half of us was super heavy, like I needed my maternity pads plus tampons sort of heavy. It was ridiculous. Just enjoy not having them. Pregnancy/post-pregnancy bodies to weird and wonderful things.

Mines not back yet 8 months later. Heres hoping it comes back before our TTC date! Oh yeah and still breastfeeding.

I was BFing & AF came back when my daughter stopped night feeds at 6 months old. They were light, short & regular. Interestingly, when my daughter self-weaned at 13.5 months, AF changed. She is now heavy & I have strong, noticeable ovulation pain!
