Help, I need some advice.
My daughter is 7 months old. She is almost crawling ( she gets on her hands and knees and rocks back and forth and sometimes moves forwards).
My dilema is........
During the day when she has a nap ( I still wrap her) she rolls onto her stomach and won;t go to sleep. I don't think she knows how to roll back onto her back and she won;t fall asleep on her tummy. Sometimes it can take me an hour to put her to sleep because everytime I put her on her back, I walk out of the room and she rolls over onto her tummy. Most of the time she is quite content and will just play then when she is really tired she will whinge a lot and in the end I have to put her to sleep in my arms.
I am also finding that at night, she is starting to wake for the same reason. She will toss and turn in her sleep and then roll over but wakes up when she rolls onto her stomach. As soon as I go into her room and turn her back over or pick her up she is fast asleep. I don;t want to continue doing this though.

I have tried not wrapping her and it is worse because she can move all over the cot and thinks it is play time.

She has only started doing this in the last two weeks.

Can anyone give me some suggestions to 1. stop her from rolling, 2. help her to learn how to fall asleep on her tummy, 3. roll back onto her back?????

Sorry to say this is a stage all/most babies go through and there isn't much you can do about it. It only lasted about 6 weeks with my little one but it drove me mad. The bad news is that after they get through this stage there's the "standing up on the side of the cot and can't lie back down" phase...
I don't think some babies need a lot of help not to sleep!

1. You can't stop her rolling. There are all sorts of contraptions you could try, but most of them work by physically restraining the child and I personally don't like that idea. Play with her during the day to see if she can roll from her tummy to her back, and if she can then the risk of SIDS and tummy sleeping is much reduced (compared to a non-rolling infant).

2. I used a patting technique. See below.

3. Hmm, well you could try it, but not sure how.

Many babies start to adopt a tummy position for sleeping at around 6 months. Quite often it is with their knees tucked up and their bum in the air. If you are wrapping her she might not be able to get into this position and that might be why she's not falling asleep.

On their tummy with their bum up in the air, or curled on their side, is a great position for a patting technique. The one I used was taught to me by a mothercraft nurse and I used it when DD was around 4 months old. It took a few weeks to really work, but I did see changes in the first few nights. I've described it before on here, and am too lazy to retype it, so see this post and the links I've put in it: http://www.bubhub.com.au/community/forums/showthread.php?p=335309&highlight=patting#post335309

Some suggestions... don't try to introduce a new settling/sleeping technique if either of you are sick. Also, you really have to go back to basics of watching for tiredness signs. If bub is overtired everything becomes harder to do. Don't be too strict on yourself or with your DD. If she's crying frantically and you think she needs a cuddle, pick her up for a cuddle and then try again when she's calmed.
