Hi everyone, just seeing if anyone out there has had a successful vbac with a baby over 9 pounds?? My first baby was an emergency c-section and he was 9 pound 5, after an ultrasound last week looks like this bub is on the same track to be same size-I'm due in 3 1/2 weeks- The doctor is recommending another c section because of the size but im more in favour of giving vbac a go?? Any feedback would be great :) TIA

Hi,
I had my 1st baby by emergency c/s 20 years ago and my 2nd child was born only 20 months after the first and weighed 9p6. i had a longish labor (but didnt labor for my 1st so that is normal) and no issues at all. Since then I have gone on to have many more natural births. Im now 22 weeks with number 8 and most have been on the "bigger side".

Hi! I recently just had a VBA2C in March...and she was 9pd 5oz! I would reccomend atleast trying! Atleast you will know... My OB for my 2nd baby sent me for a growth scan and she was measuring 4kg's at 37wks and he used this to convince me to have another cesarean (my first was an emergancy like you). You're story of where you are at right now reminds me exactly of mine!!!
Growth scans can be really inaccurate...either way MORE or LESS, but if you believe you can do it then GO FOR IT! If you want to know more PM me... or you can check out my blog... THE MOTHERHOOD TIMES (http://www.themotherhoodtimes.com/)

Please also remember that those growth scans are estimates only! :-)

My DD (my c-section baby) was 3.6kg/8lb1oz and was "stuck", she was posterior, brow presentation and her head to the side.

My DS1 (my VBAC baby) was 4.1kg/9lb3oz and was a completely boring vaginal birth. He was fatter, longer and a slightly bigger head than my DD and his birth was smooth.

My DS2 (my 2nd VBAC baby) was 3.9kg/8lb10oz and was the quickest birth of them all. He was again fatter than my DD, longer and he had the biggest head of them all.

Your body can birth the sized baby that it grows, it is an extremely rare occasion when your baby is simply too big to birth and has other medical reasons attached to it, either from the baby or the mother.

Be confident, you can do it :)

I love this articel http://www.birthmarket.com/articles/pelvis.asp
It really puts to bed the whole argument that women can't birth big babies!!
